We throw a lot of dough around here in the Keys as well. we built an auditorium, or sort of built it for 5 years now cost almost a million and it has no roof. We built a doggie park on zillion dollar land,a 2 million dollar swimming pool that locals can't swim in, and on and on and on.bad govt. is bad govt. It is seemingly everywhere you have rats in control. Where is a damn good exterminator when you need one?

The answer is in what you are saying. Republicans can either move the country to the right over time and continue winning elections, or we can lose elections by demanding we get there immediately. Your choice, but I would rather move slowly than be stopped. For example, it has taken 40 years to reverse public opinion over abortion. Have patience.

Democrats can't win in Colorado? One reason Salazar won in CO is because he appealed to enough voters by appearing to be more conservative than he really is. Now that he's in office, there is nothing we can do about his voting for radical Democrat programs. He, and his kind are trying to move CO a little bit left each and every day. Not a radical swing.

Threatening people because you don't like hearing the truth is a poor way to debate issues.

NO SIR, launching into repeated personal attacks rather the answer the questions posed to you is the "poor way to debate issues". Since you have FAILED to provide even one shred of proof to back up your anti Bush accusation, I guess that means you have NONE?

So once again, without any more emotional hysteria from you. Answer the questions posed to you. Source for your accusation that Bush's Hurricane Recovery plan is "poll driven"?

What is YOUR solution then. Don't like what Bush planned, what is YOUR solution?

What's really funny is that Donna keeps telling him that no, the Dems won't take away your guns and he WILL NOT believe her lies! She can't even convince her own father of the big lie.
Pretty smart man!

I would surely do as you ask, and try to get concrete suggestions or ideas that RM thinks would be better than Pres. Bush's but...

He reminds me of these dems on TV lately that just blast Pres. Bush and FEMA, for what a horrible job they did re: Katrina...but when the host asks them about Nagin or Blanco...they say "there is enough blame to go around"..a real generic answer...

THAT is dishonest, and politically driven propaganda...that is being pushed, but NEVER, EVER do they have answers or ideas...just their long, fingers of blame, pointing at Bush.

I saw that samantha raised the notion that perhaps you are remembering Reagan with rose-colored memories...and that maybe, just once, he did do something less than perfect..maybe you could read up on it and let us know, okay, RM ?

Sure, Freepers are conservative and want less taxes, but we also have to be realistic and pay attention....and get involved, not just gripe all the time.

BUT, I will say that when Katrina happened, I was glad that Bush hadn't vetoed any bills, because sure as shooting, no matter what bill it would have been...the MSM and dems would have found a way to attach that vetoed bill for the REASON there was so much death and destruction by Katrina.

How true and how warped and sad

The WSJ had a front page article on Nagin and the power brokers in NOLA. The claimed that Nagin was helped to power by the power brokers, who are trying to rebuild NOLA to benefit themselves. They said that they were meeting with Nagin in Dallas to discuss plans for the rebuilding, which would include, cleaning up the crime, improving the schools and attracting more tourism. The insinuation was that they wanted to eliminate all the low cost housing and possibly replace it with casinos. In other words, they would like to turn NOLA into a Las Vegas. The article didn't come right out and say this, it was mostly insinuation.

Remember the Columbine shootings? The leftist grief counselors all came in to help, as they usually do. They left upset because nobody turned to them. The kids went to their parents, friends and churches for any help in resolving any problems they had. The psychobabble from the left failed to attract anyone.

I think that with Rush, it was recognition of his greatness by a left wing Democrat, and he felt honored to be interviewed for a full hour. Tim Russert did it for ratings, and he got them. I am sure he flattered Rush's ego. After Rush had the drug abuse problems Russert dropped him, but we know he shows Slick Willie the rapist and drug/booze abuser nothing but adoration and respect.

Well, I have been reading down through this thread, and so I politely ask you what YOU think the President should do?

I personally thought that his proposals were good ones which would be consistent with a conservative method of following the Stafford Act, which requires BY LAW the federal government to be involved in reconstruction after a major disaster.

It seems to me that I spent some time reading your posts on another thread, in which you were arduing that no matter what, President Bush would never be a great president, while Ronald Reagan was. At the time, I told you that it wasn't necessary to try to decide which was greater, in the same way that we don't argue the merits of Washington and Lincoln.

I see now that you are saying that this is NOT about Reagan, and your argument has changed to attacking Bush because he isn't conservative enough for you.

So, put up or shut up. What is your solution to this disaster? Why is an enterprise zone for the Gulf area not a conservative solution? What is wrong with encouraging home ownership? What is wrong with helping people get training so that they can work and pay taxes?

No complaint from me. I have said exactly the same thing for some time now. Bush is supporting his Republican congress, which happens to have a bunch of Prima-donnas in it who all want to be reelected. Still, there are times I'd like to see him veto just one bill to send the message about pork spending.

Delay was not being sarcastic. He always blows his top when he tangles with Pence(Delay's comment was in response to Pence's threat for zero conservative cooperation on ANYTHING without offsets)

Sure, Freepers are conservative and want less taxes, but we also have to be realistic and pay attention....

EXACTLY, solutions not just vapid posturings. I like what I am hearing about this Mike Pence guy. Good to see some Repubs starting to take on their leadership. That is how the 1994 Republican Revolution got started. Solutions and action, not endless whining. The anti-Bush "conservatives" with their non stop whining and NO solutions give propaganda aid and comfort to the Hysteric Left. They LOVE to quote how "Even Republicans are being critical of Bush" Doesn't help our side AT ALL when a certain segment spends all their time screaming at their own side. I have reached the conclusion that for certain segment of old Conservatives secretly long to be the minority party again. Being the minority party is a nice safe cocoon for these people where then can complain about everything but actually have to DO nothing.

Excellent post.
Few here would not support a balanced budget, a fence across mexico and so many other things that the country needs but like Rush says it's better to win than not too.
We saw what happened when the bad guys were in office during the 90's. The last thing we need is a repeat of bubba Clinton.I know thats not a pure philosophy but politics is sometimes less than pure.
