That was a very informative post, so it was not Congress that kept that plan from going forward it was Slick willie, per William Jefferson democrat Louisiana.

There are quite a number of plans competing for funds.

The $500,000 Lake Pontchartrain Basin Comprehensive Study, was proposed in 1998 and killed by Congress. It considered it, and decided in conference to not fund it.

A Harvey Canal project at an estimated $120,000,000, was not considered in a 1995 Congress because ...

On June 9, [1995], John Zirschky, the acting assistant secretary of the Army and the official who refused to forward the report, sent a memo to the corps, saying the recommendation for the project "is not consistent with the policies and budget priorities reflected in the President's Fiscal Year 1996 budget. Accordingly, I will not forward the report to the Office of Management and Budget for clearance."

There is a live presser with reps. down in NO....and Nadler looked like he just stepped off of a bass boat!!! LOL...he looked so funny, with a baseball cap on and a PLAID short sleeved shirt!!!!!

Did he also have on Bermuda shorts and the obligatory sandals worn with black, over-the-calf socks? IOW, did he fit the Lewis Grizzard description of the typical Yankee tourist?

What is striking to me about Biden is that he actually has been working really hard to suck up to any Democrat in Power. He was rumored to be John Kerry's choice in a Kerry Administration for Secretary of Defense. He complained bitterly about John Bolton's so called bad behavior to his employees, but he cannot see his own irrational, snotty behavior with Judge Roberts or any number of people he has has to question. The boy is just tone deaf, and he is the creep that went over to Europe for Kerry and pulled a JImmy Carter trashing America to anti- Americans on foreign soil. I really cannot stand these people they have no redeeming qualities that I can see.

She said that the local people were praising Bush like 9/11.

There is a golden opportunity here for the Right. Rush touched on this on Friday. For 40 years we have just conceded the black vote to the Dems. Just written off the black urban Dem strongholds. The dirty secret is the Demos HAVE to keep those people poor and dependent. Without their votes most of Blue State America turns Red and Democrats become a minor party. Bush is basically making a play for those votes. Basically saying "Hey look there is a better way to do this then the way we have been doing for the last 60 years" Give these people a hand up instead of a hand out and MAKE IT WORK and you may just pick off that 5% to gut the Dems political base. What I am afraid of is the ideologies on the Hysteric Left and the Cast Iron Right joining hands in Congress to kill this idea. The Hysteric Left because their whole political future rests on keeping this people poor and dependent, the Cast Iron Right because they lack the intellectual ability to understand the subtlety of Bush's plan. The Cast Iron Conservatives are all running around screaming "Bush sold out the base". NO he DID NOT. Rush Limbaugh did fabulous work Friday explain WHY the Bush plan IS Conservatism in Action. The Cast Iron Rights notion that we should do NOTHING and make the states do everything is simply unworkable. The simply fact is the cost of maintaining the evacuees and the costs in lost Tax Revenue will end up costing the Treasury far more then the cost of Rebuilding seems to have completely gone over their heads.

He just looked like so much Elmer Fudd....he just needed a fishing pole, or a shotgun....priceless!!!!

It would be an excellent project for freepers to do nexxus lexxus searches to find out just how deep the incest is among the media elites. I know that smarmy David Gregory is married to a woman that worked in the Justice dept under Janet Reno, and he wants us to think he is not partisan.

Since this is a talk show thread...albeit a Sunday morning talk show thread...

Does anyone know if the rumors were true last week that Friday was Hairball's last night?

I didn't get to see Friday's show...and I kept seeing reports scattered in threads, here at FR...that it was being cancelled...

Anybody???? anybody????

Since when did commonsense triumph over ideology whether it be right or left extreme of either is dangerous and not good for a country

Ending her years living with another woman's husband showed the true character of Jackie'O.

She was nothing more than a creation of the slavish leftist media.

Way to go, we all have relatives that are still "stuck on stupid". I hope that the Thanksgiving Dinner get together will be cordial, and it would be a good idea since he makes so much money to have the Dinner at his house all expenses on him. LOL!

Clinton trotted himself out by calling for a global initiative to coincide with the opening of the UN.

No doubt he made himself available to anyone who would have him on the air.

Heard one newsie say bubba said hilary should put her self out their for president in 2008 and propose her agenda for America.

Sheesh, he even makes her announcement for her. Good little woman, following along behind her man.

This unfortunately is true of most large towns or cities the left have control because of the brain washing of the voters who are mainly working class or unemployed

Which is why President Bush's speech Thursday was such a golden moment for the Right. Basically Bush is taking the fight to the Left on THEIR turf. Bush is bascially saying "HEY, there is a better way to do this then we have been following for the last 60 years".

>>>>Bush is basically making a play for those votes.

Putting on an LBJ mask, expanding government and handing out a blank check will not win over the hearts and minds of black America. That's naive thinking.

Face it. PresBush saw his fallen poll numbers headed even further south and to stop the free fall, Bush-Kove& Company decided to roll the dice. Take a well crafted speech and add to it maybe upwards of $200-billion and you get a momentary feel good period.

Good politics. Bad policy.

I have missed most of the Honore tirades. He's colorful and it's hard to not laugh as he goes after the media. As for lies, I'm not aware of them. He probably does do the typical military approach to answering questions of not responding until his staff has confirmed something. We've seen this in Iraq too. We might see something on TV and the brass denies it has happened. Usually, they are more diplomatic than Honore seems to be.

That group....is the one I really want to gain power in the House....as far as I know...the only candidate in the Senate that would fit is Coburn of Oklahoma.

This is how the 1994 Republican Revolution started. If not us, who? If not now, when? If not here, where? Every victory has to start somewhere.
