More women are asking for prenups

Over a casual dinner, Rachel Kaplan turned to her boyfriend and asked, "You're open for a prenup, right?"
Darren Waldohlz, 38, a partner in a successful speed-dating business, admits he was caught off guard. But he said he realized a prenuptial agreement would protect the house he owns, too.
"It's not that I plan to get divorced," says Kaplan, 23, a single mom from Fort Lauderdale, who has a sizable inheritance. "I have to protect myself and my daughter."
While men are still more likely to seek a prenup, "women are becoming a more dominant force," said attorney Alan Braverman, who has offices in Fort Lauderdale and Boynton Beach.
Experts attribute the change to women marrying later or more than once.
"It's not uncommon in today's world that women are entering marriages with assets and stock options," said matrimonial attorney Jacqueline Valdespino, in Coral Gables. "Now both sides have equal bargaining power."

There were NO dictionaries in the 1200s nor in the 1300s.
I used the same dictionaries, just 29 years apart, to refute your stated position , that your 1984 dictionary ( a different edition completely from both of my Websters! )had changed, due to the "sexual revolution" of the mid '60s! My dictionaries give exactly the same definition, at the same place, though one was published prior to the "sexual revolution" and the other, published decades after.
The only divergence, in my dictionaries, is word swap "boy" for "youth". Now, YOUTH comes from the youngster, which, in the late 1500s, denoted a young man of no experience of any kind, including but not solely, sexual.
Samuel Johnson did NOT include the word virgin in the first edition of his dictionary; which was published in 1755. I own the set. You don't and there's no way that you've even seen one of them, let alone peruse either of the two gigantic volumes, which comprise the full dictionary. Not every known word found its way into these volumes.
You want to nit pick? Okay, sweetums, I show you up, yet again! I happen to have a rather good vocabulary and unlike you, know and use words with skill and alacrity; though I have forced myself to dumb down my written English here, because of people like yourself, who know little of their mother tongue. so read the following and weep!
peruse...1) to read through, as with thoroughness or care. 2) to read. 3) Archaic..... to survey or examine in detail.[ late Med. ]
Ergo, there was less than nothing incorrect with my use of the word; however, a very great deal WRONG, with your claim, that I had missed used the word.
But keep on posting, you're proving, beyond a shadow of a doubt, to every person who reads this thread, just how little you know and what and who you really are; which isn't much! ;^)

You said that you wouldn't marry any female who you had sex with, prior to marriage. That means that 1) you will only marry a virgin ( lots of luck with both of those things! LOL ), or 2) that you will marry a female who has engaged in sexual congress with someone else, but not YOU, prior to marrying you. Since, from all of your posts, I doubt that #2 is true, though it is the only other logical choice, given your previous statements.
Neither reason, nor logic is your forte.

Of course you do...along with your other fantasies. ;^)

It's funny. Last weekend the big 800+ post article was on high powered women not being able to find mates. Now we are onto them insisting on pre-nups. LOL! And here I was just looking for something interesting to contribute a post. Seriously though, divorce is such a sore point because it impacts nearly every single American and 99% of the time it's always bad news. Now there's a trend to make bad news more convenient? Only in America...

You can have all the faith in the world and still be wrong. I look at it as I do my fire extinguisher, insurance and firearm. Hope never to need it, but I'd rather have it and not need it, then be caught without. And in case of divorce it makes a handy bludgeon. ; )

My only question is how to breach the subject of a prenup to your SigOther Get it out of the way on the first date, before there is any emotional investment. If it doesn't fly then you've only wasted one evening.

It's a self-centered mentality, really: many women think they can change the variables on their side of the equation, and not change the variables comperablyon the other side of the equation. Frankly, they must be smoking crack to genuinely believe that: it makes no sense and it is fundamentally unfair.
Hmmm, good analogy. It is like in any math equation, if you take a different number and plug it into one side of the equation, it will change what you get on the other side. I'm a firm believer in the "zero-sum game" where most things are concerned. Things will zero out at some point, although what you get might be better or worse than what you started out with as the circumstances dictate.

The way you have talked about her on this thread hasn't been showing that you have any respect for her. I'm sorry to say it, but you sound downright hateful about her!

TO ALL:: "LIGHTEN UP, FRANCIS"!!!!!!!!
Yeah, I think we all need to chill out. I think soon I'll "zone out" for a little bit, read some Bible verses, then go over to AK, maybe watch what I taped on "Adult Swim" ("Go Team Venture!" and Aqua Teen Hunger Force), I'm too beat to fire up Final Fantasy 8 on the Playstation so I might work on my Morrow Project role playing game. B-)
Speaking of the Playstation, sometimes it would be better to put in "Road Rash 2 - Jailbreak" into two player mode and have a person from each side go at it as they control their motorcycle bikers as fight each other while racing, it is a real hoot and maybe both sides will laugh. It's very much like a slapstick game where the bikers have chains, baseball bats, lead pipes, stun guns, etc. where they beat each other up. I know when my buddy and I get together, we never laughed so hard. B-) When you hit the right button, you can yell cat-calls to the other player and if you hit it fast enough, you can make it sound like a hip-hop rapper. B-)
Deep down inside, I get tired and burned out at all the political rancor and there are times it is a good idea to "zone out" for a while. Already, John Kerry is opening up his pie hole to attack the President over the hurricane. OK, I don't see Kerry as an evil guy, I'm sure deep down inside he is a good guy, but very misguided and ideologically screwed up. He just needs to remember the election is over and it ain't 2004 anymore.

I would get mine for free! My brother is a senior partner in a very large law firm and a part time judge. My son-in-law is also an attorney.

I had a bit of inspiration today. While listening to rush, he was talking about How Dingy harry was chiding Judge Roberts, for using the term "Illegal Amigos"-- and saying it was "insensitive". After a bit of dialog, Rush said "who do these people think that they are, to tell us how to talk, and what is insensitive" and so on.
Well, as occasionally happens, that triggered something creative in my head-- and now, I am working on a little song, to that effect.
Stay tuned.

Well, somewhere in there you and I agree. I believe that I am just as accountable to God as my late husband as to how our family and home were run. As I told you, my husband and I were partners. Neither of us made an important decision without first discussing it with the other. We also agreed upon how the children should be reared. Now, since his death, I am head of the household. And, yes, he was figuratively the head of the household when he was alive, but we made decisions TOGETHER.
