September 15, 2005 -- THE October issue of Blender magazine, on newsstands Tuesday, lists "The 500 Greatest Songs Since You Were Born," which, for their readers, means the best songs since 1980.
No. 1 is "Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson. Catchy, important. A good choice.

I would hope Billy Joel or someone like him would have the most songs on that list but it is probably someone like TuPac or Snoop Dog.
I think Losing my Religon should have been a contender for the # 1 slot.
Blender is the same magazine that said "We Built This City" by Starship was the worst song ever recorded, so their credibility went right out the window.
Before we dismiss Kiss, let's remember that as far as American music groups go, they have more gold records than anyone else. They play year after year to packed arenas around the world.
It's ok. You really don't have the ability to understand music yet. Call me when you're over 25.
Of course, just because you were in the music business doesn't mean you can speak for everyone else's opinion. What is great music for one is trash for another.
Heh. Some idiot is going to accuse you of being a DU plant before the thread is out.
A band called The Shelia Devine has a very eclectic "alt-rock" version of this song on the "Viva Noel - A Q Division Christmas" album. It sends shivers up my spine and I always play it (along with a few other favorites) every Christmas Eve late at night with the fireplace roaring and all the lights turned off in the house except for the tree and Christmas lights.
There is a non-vocal instrumental-only version on Mannheim Steamroller's "A Fresh Aire Christmas" that I am very partial to.
A new-agey (think Enya) version can be found on Charlotte Church's "Dream A Dream" album.
For those who want to stick with the traditional version of the song, the ultimate contemporary version in my opinion is done by Mariah Carey off the 1994 "Merry Christmas" album.
See my #128
I have that on a cassette somewhere. :-)
Got that one as well as other South Park Christmas standards including "The Lonely Jew At Christmas."
