IT would be comforting to believe that Geraldo Rivera is inexplicable.
Sadly, when we consider Rupert Murdoch's ceaseless schemes for global domination and the venal blood lust that pulses through Fox News, Geraldo is easy to explain which makes him simply inexcusable. Seeing him descend bright-eyed and sweaty on wretched New Orleans, as he did in Hurricane Katrina's aftermath, was like watching a vulture on crystal meth. The word that came to mind was not "reporting," but "feeding."
The only rational reaction was: Dear God! Haven't these people suffered enough?
But, as he always has, Geraldo continues to push the limits of the possible, and, in this case, the controversy currently surrounding one of his broadcasts from New Orleans demands that we squarely confront the question, "Can you wrong the indefensible?"
This time, Geraldo's antagonist is the New York Times' Alessandra Stanley, whose tangential acquaintance with the facts seems to suggest that she's the Michael D. Brown of TV critics.

Nope, no bias here...
It is fun to see a liberal tear apart another liberal!
Geraldo is no more than just another liberal jerk
The LA Times must have been pissed that on O'Reilly last night, Bill said even the LA Times was sticking up for Geraldo on this story.
Two for the price of one!
Yep. That's the feeling I've always gotten from Geraldo's antics.
He's perpetually breaking into Al Capone's vault to find . . . stale, dank air.
Was not pleased when Fox hired him and now defends him as their champ.
Jerry Rivers and Greta better thank their maker for landing on Fox, that's all I know.
You neglected to add the "barf alert".
I like Geraldo. He's colorful, outrageous, passionate, and opinionated. And once upon a time he was an important journalist who broke important stories. He's a fresh breeze at Fox News. I prefer him in fact, to Shep Smith, who is a bit pompous.
One of the funniest Geraldo stories I ever saw...
He was in Afghanistan, at night, in the field, with lights on and a ring of US soldiers circling him at the edge of darkness with guns facing outward.
Geraldo is saying "Normally, the guys wouldn't allow lights on at night, but for me they made an exception" touting his great relationship with the troops...
In the background, you could read the soldier's minds...
"Shoot now!!! Take the freakin shot!!!"
Isn't that funny? Fox drives the libs nuts.
The sad thing is, from the footage I saw, he didn't do what they said--yet, Geraldo is so shameless that it's easy to believe the NYT lie. Who would put it past him?
That is not true!
He truly loves America's men and women in uniform. I think that is genuine.
Wow, an accurate description from the LA Times.
Did the LAT run the original false NYT story?
Is this then what they consider a correction?
It's surely no apology.
Geraldo is well aware that as a "public figure", he'd have
to prove malice in order to win a libel case against the
NYT. He may have a case.
I thought this clown drew the line in the sand more than a year ago!
I can't figure out why FOX keeps such an inept person on the air. He's more for Dumb and Dumber than prime time.
both shep and geraldo are pompous boobs.
Jerry Rivers! lol
Savage bump!
