The Tennessee attorney general rejected a request from Republicans on Friday to investigate a Democratic candidate's 12-vote victory for a state Senate seat vacated by John Ford.
Ford resigned in May after his indictment on federal bribery and extortion charges. His sister, Ophelia Ford, defeated Republican opponent Terry Roland by a vote of 4,332 to 4,320 in a special election Thursday.
The state GOP asked Attorney General Paul Summers to investigate the election, citing allegations of voting irregularities and improper vote counting.
But Summers declined, saying state and county election officials would "ensure that the statutory process for determining the results of this election is strictly followed."
John Ford, the uncle of Rep. Harold Ford Jr., D-Tenn., was first elected in 1974, the same year brother Harold Ford Sr. became Tennessee's first black member of Congress.
Harold Ford Sr. retired in 1996, handing over the U.S. House seat to his oldest son, Harold Jr., who is now a candidate for the U.S. Senate.
How many Fords are there in Tenn., and do any of them have real jobs?
Surprised?
I have a Ford in my garage, but its not running at the moment. ;)
You know, it's just about the only way Dems can "win" elections anymore. Keep an eye on what's happening in Wisconsin. When all the investigating is done there it's gonna show that Bush carried the state in 2004.
"...How many Fords are there in Tenn., and do any of them have real jobs?..."
Way too many
and
no.
You know, it's just about the only way Dems can "win" elections anymore.

Lying and cheating has been their modus operandi since Tammany Hall --- the beat goes on.
put it on the ballot - it'll obviously win
I feel dumb asking the question, but...what's going on in Wisc.?
Does Summers belong to a particular party?
People will always vote for a dem crooks sister over a republican. No need to investigate. /sarc
What amazes me most is that a Republican could actually poll that well in western Shelby County.
I looked at a map of the district and it looks like it covers a lot of heavily black, heavily Dem territory.
I thought all the Republicans in Shelby County were out near Germantown and Collierville.
Anyone?
Eher is the JEEP whe you need him!
Just heard on the radio that the Republican is contesting. We will see what happens.
Prince Mongo got 80 plus votes. My guess is that most of those votes would have gone to the republican.
Thanks.
