Better safe than sorry, and entering the USA is not an international right. The first article I read about this guy (back when they first found him in Massachusetts) said he had dual citizenship. This article says the guy is a (naturalized) US citizen. If he's a citizen, doesn't that mean he does have the right to enter the country?
This, of course, does not excuse the dunderheads at the border for not being concerned about the "implements of destruction" (I've always said that "Alice's Restaurant" contained quotes for almost any situation [*grin*]) he had with him.

Nope. Even a citizen has to be readmitted formally to the USA.
There are numerous cases where a citizen has been denied reentry; usually due to not wanting to surrender prohibited items brought back from outside the US.

But we know he "surrendered" those items.

Sure. My point is that there is precedent for denying reentry of a citizen; we need to expand that precedent.
For instance, next time Jimmuh-Jane Cahtuh goes to Cuber, we shouldn't let him back in.

Uh huh.
Except in the case of sKerry, he is an elected member of Congress. The Constitution provides that he not be impeded during his "term of office".
