When the company didn't receive payment on $2,500 worth of merchandise it had delivered, officials called the FBI, which launched an investigation, Gulczynski said. So does this mean that if his handlers had actually paid for the materials, the FBI wouldn't have been contacted and this loser could have gone on to blow up an aircraft or airport? Now the terrorists have learned a lesson: pay for your stuff and you won't get caught.

I was about to make the same point. My God, this company is selling pilot uniforms and instruction manuals to someone named Mahmoud Maawad, and they don't notify the FBI immediately! The Patriot Act was supposed to protect us, not the terrorists!

Its my hope that they discovered him through other means that the FBI don't want to disclose to the public because they don't want the terrorist to be that smart.

I don't think he had handlers just based on the evidence presented in this article. It says he got $3000 in aviation materials, but never paid $2,500 of it.
I don't think he was financed. I do think he was a nut. Good thing AQ did not find him first, IMHO.

I totally agree. Greed first, patriotism second. I'd like to know the name of the company so I can boycott its products (which I am sure I would never buy in the first place).

Yeah, that's what it looks like. We wouldn't have heard of this SOB if he paid for his materials. Next time they will pay.

I don't think he was financed. I do think he was a nut. Good thing AQ did not find him first, IMHO. I agree that he was a nut and certainly needed to be deported, like yesterday. Somehow, I can't help suspecting that he might have been just a sad, poor, lonely guy who fantasized about a high paying glamorous job in aviation. Think of all the copies of Flight Simulator sold worldwide.
You don't need a course in GPS to hit a 30 story building.
Of course frustrated dreams can lead to spectacular antisocial behavior, so the sooner he's deported the better.
