I'm no fan of President Bush, but I still don't understand what he apologized for and why Brown had to go.

Fair enough.

I think that Captain's Quarters gave a good analysis as to where the administration did fall short (not including Mike Brown) http://www.captainsquartersblog.com/mt/archives/005452.php

Relative to Mike Brown -- when you are in over your head, you escalate the problems to your management. I am on the outside, so I don't know to what extent he did do this. But I can say that W doesn't let a person take the fall if he or she is competent and has been fully forthcoming. (Disclaimer- Clearly I am a fan of the President :-) )

Go read his exact words. He was not apologizing, just taking the blame for any mistakes that might have been made. I think Brown had to go for lying on his resume.
