The people of Georgia didn't tell New Orleans to build below sea level

That we can blame on the French. :)

But the port is certainly in the natural interest.

Disasters of this magnitude will require some – okay, lots – of federal help.

Hugh Hewitt had some very good suggestions, unfortunately they seem to have fallen off his blog and not yet made it to his archives, perhaps I missed them. I believe that with some federal government aid it is possible to change some of the culture of poverty in New Orleans.

I would love to continue this discussion, but I must go to bed; If you want to respond I will respond to you tomorrow.
