I have been ashamed of my lack of compassion on this. I have compassion for all of them but it is lacking. I have reasons but still.... I did a job yesterday for a family that rode it out and then came to Missouri after. They have been here a week. I couldn't get them out of bed before 10:30 a.m. Someone else was paying me to go help them. I wasn't very sympathetic because they showed so little respect for those giving them help. Maybe you're not cut out for this type of "job". It doesn't sound like it is doing you or anyone else any good. BTW, respect is to be earned.

WWWWRRRRROOOONNNNNGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Free market conservatism is being in control of your life and not being a slave to the government! You can choose to own your home, you can choose to be a success, you can choose to be the best! But we won't do it for you, it is up to you..
The alternative is socialistic liberals who's only choice is you can be a politician or you can be a slave to the government deciding everything for you.

I am sick to death of the mean-spirited people on this forum who are trying to pass themselves off as conservatives.

Thank you for that. I was able to catch the last few moments. It was Awesome..gotta turn away from ABC now, they're back to bashing. Terry Moron!!

It may very well be that many of these folks will eventually be better off than before the storm--a sort of blessing in disguise. Sometimes it takes a hurricane to get people out of the hell-hole they've been living in.

Chris Matthews and Howard Fineman....fineman answers Matthews by saying, "no, the president didn't recover with this speech tonight. he didn't talk aboout healthcare, and he said this wasn't an ordinary hurricane, begging the question, why didn't we know how to handle it.?" Fineman missed the grand vision in this speech.
Joe Scarborough says the speech will go over well if you're in New Orleans, but the other states will wonder about that. Joe says LBJ could have given this speech. He means too many giveaways. It sounds like hte WPA on steroids, Joe says.
(Yall, I think Chris Matthews has had his eyes fixed) YES HE HAS!!!!

Again, especially haven seen the Koppel special that was on before the speech, which failed to mention them.
The people from the streets of NOLA obivously know the real deal on the buses and the local response, despite the L/MSM silence on this.
All that said, I'm concerned about the seemingly unlimited spending being promised here. While something substantial is needed, what I'm hearing seems extreme.

Mort's wrong. It was a GREAT speech. Positive, forward looking, optimistic, pro-business, full of American spirit. GREAT speech. I agree. And I have noticed that this President's speeches are even better when you have thought about it a day or two and then go read the transcript.
His "salt of the earth" wisdom is sometimes very subtle.

Oh, Mort's full of it. It looked like he was sucking on a lemon.
He came off as a frustrated, nasty liberal tonight, and he's usually a bit more fair.

Don, if we took half the political advice I've seen you give over the years, we'd be the Reform Party. If there are files on me, I demand they be released to me now.
