I do not agree. That is pacifist thinking. Some people deserve a good punch in the mouth for saying rotten things about another man's wife, or mother; For saying "I'd like to put your lights out"; For spitting on veterans...and a host of other things.
Believe me, there are times when I agree that a good punch in the kisser can straighten things out. I am just pointing out that we are quicker to "not side" with the freedom of speech issue on "this issue" than if it were anything else. I believe the white kid did this to get a rise out the other students- to perhaps see how much he could get away with. I doubt that ANYONE in an American public school wouldn't expect to get at least what he did for wearing the racist shirt. I just think that we either want free speech or we don't. Also, we need to make sure we apply the same logic to other similar situations.
