The weak senators are after a big name for p.r. Thad Allen is in charge of fed responsibility and these senators want to undercut him? General Honoure and Thad Allen should be left alone and the senators should get a clue.

Was this a part of the 'gang of 14' trying to worm their way in again?

Good. Government is plenty big already. It would have started with a Czar and then that Czar would have needed staff and that staff would need assistants....

More theatrics from the William J Lepetomaine "We've got to do something to protect our phoney-baloney jobs" school of politics.

That is one piece of good news. Now we shall see whether the taxpayers will become Katrina co-victims. Will there be effective restraints included in the billions proposed for rebuilding the flood areas? Will the RAT political machine that owns La be allowed to control the spending? Will the other states affected by Katrina get a fair share of the money or will it be weighted in favor of NO? And I hope to God, that there is no apology for anything by the President tonight.

We've had numerous great catastrophes in U.S. history: the Chicago fire, the Johnstown flood, the Galveston hurricane, the San Francisco earthquake and fire. How did we ever survive without a Federal czar?
