I thought Roberts was her replacement..... He was initially named as her replacement. However, when President Bush named him as the nominee for Chief Justice, he became in essence Rehnquist's replacement and Sandy stated that she would remain on the bench until her replacement is confirmed. Therefore, regardless of whom Roberts is deemed to be replacing, Sandy will stay on the court until Bush names -- AND THE SENATE CONFIRMS -- another justice after Roberts.
