Here's a dumb question: what provision of the Constitution authorizes Congress to pass this kind of legislation?

I don't think Bush will sign anything like that. I didn't think a Pubbie-led House would pass it either.

Whew reuters gets all excited about a tiny amendment to push a bill through, while that amendment will probably be taken out if it ever makes it to a conference committee.
<p.
JMO, it shows reuters immense liberal agenda, but of course some on FR will automatically scream "conservative betrayal" and become candidates for the San Francisco drama queen contest, while all in the while can't see they are being played like a fiddle by reuters.

I wonder if it snuck past their noses one more time. There has gotta be a toiletload of stuff that they don't even notice, when a typical bill is the size of a phone book.

Doesn't jubilant mean the same thing as gay? I mean in a real world not overrun with homophiles.

So posting the above picture could soon be a federal "hate crime"?
Oh, give me a break...

I don't think Bush will sign anything like that. You're kidding, right? Since when has GW found his veto pen?

Boy, I sure am glad we elected a Republican House to prevent such stupid bills from being passed. /s

Your on to something there. Not only will criminals have this in mind when considering crimes, they will probably be vindicated by the media for "standing up to" the majority.

Oh crap. It's already a crime. This target specific hate crime stuff has GOT to stop. I can't believe our Republicans are pandering like this.

I don't think Bush will sign anything like that. Here is a list of all the bills our President has vetoed since elected the first time.

"U.S. House backs...."
Careful now, with some gays it's hard to tell if that's a hate crime or a sex act.

Well someone should tell him that if he won't veto THIS one, half of the GOP will sit out the next election.

Looking at the link I put in reply #31, when tancredo and kuccinich vote the same way on a bill, it's akin to "I don't think were in Kansas anymore, Toto".

Homosexual Agenda Ping.
This is BAD, BAD, BAD. Very, very bad. I am disgusted. The House has stood up to this vileness for some time even though the good ol' boys in the Senate kept shoving it at them.
Now the principle-less so-called Republicans have surrendered without a shot being fired. I am steamed, angered, sickened, repulsed, and we need to email, write, call President Bush. He has to veto this. Has to.
Freepmail me AND DirtyHarryY2K if you want on/off this pinglist.
Note this abomination:
"add sexual orientation, gender, gender identity"
GENDER IDENTITY! Words cannot express how disgusted I am that so-called Republicans voted for this nastiness. If President Bush signs this, a very, very important line has been crossed.
