U.S. House backs hate crime measure protecting gays

WASHINGTON, Sept 14 (Reuters) - The U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday unexpectedly backed a measure to expand federal hate crime protection to gay people, a measure that House conservatives had blocked for years.

The Senate has passed similar legislation, which also expanded protections for the disabled, several times in recent years but House conservatives had argued that these cases should be dealt with on a local or state level without additional federal intervention.

This time the hate crime measure was attached to a bipartisan bill known as the Children's Safety Act aimed at tightening reporting requirements for child sex offenders. Companion legislation has not yet moved through the Senate, so the ultimate fate of the gay protection provision is uncertain.

Still backers were jubilant.

I heard the other day that some Priest/Bishop in Canada is being fined $10K for writing a letter to the editor against exposing children to homosexuality issues. He may go to prison if he doesn't pay up...In fact $2K has to go to a homosexual advocacy group.

And groups are doing their best to see to it, that the SC is packed with liberal, radical, evil-thinking judges, like Ginsburg, that will further the pagan agenda, in this country.

I so much wish I had been born in 1947, and not 1967.

I am SURE, that had I been born then, I would NOT had just sat silently by, and watched complacently, while this evil filth, began to germinate, and to spread into positions of power, to where it is now .

I would had been one of those who would have stood up and said, :: Lets STOP this evil,demonic filth, while we can!!, We CANNOT just allow this "tolerance" movement", to continue to grow!!

I disagree with the idea of "hate crimes"

It's interesting to follow the "logic" behind hate crimes, and it can be funny, too.

Hate is an emotion, so laws against "hate crimes" seek to make certain emotions illegal. Presumably, then, there are emotions that a person is supposed to feel when committing a crime, as well as certain emotions which is isn't OK to feel when committing these crimes.

Beyond that, there is the question of a member of the protected group committing the same crime against a person in an unprotected group.

A white person burns a cross in a black person's yard = "hate crime"

A black person burns a cross in a white person's yard = not a "hate crime"

Equal protection under the law is gone under these rules. It would be nice to see these issues discussed before laws are passed, but I'm not holding my breath.

I say if someone committs a crime then they get the punishment, and I don't care what they were feeling at the time.

As you can imagine, I'm so happy to see that my piece of dirt "Republican" Congress-creep voted "Aye" for this bill. Here's the email I just sent him:

Dear Rep. Saxton,

I am utterly disgusted to find out that you voted "Aye" to Amendment #25 of HR 3121 adding "sexual orientation" and "gender identity" to the special classes of citizens deserving more protection under the law than the rest of us plebs. What an unbelievably gutless and pathetic vote!

Several months ago, I had written to you asking you to stand up for the traditional family and reject the politics of radical homosexuals seeking special rights. Your response was noncommittal at best.

By this vote, you have disqualified yourself as a legitimate candidate for office in my mind. It's clear to me now that you are not a friend of NJ families and therefore, you will NEVER get another vote from me or my family members again. I will actively campaign against you in the next election and will encourage a primary challenge against you in 2006.

The attempted overthrow of nearly 230 years of American respect and exaltation of the traditional family will not succeed. And politicians, like yourself, who will not defend that august institution will be defeated.
