With all due respect to my many pilot friends, they had to see it coming with the shift from three to two-man crews and Airbus's introduction of fly by wire technology.

Fewer pilot jobs, but those few that will remain will pay well, albeit not as high as Delta's Captains make. Average salary at UPS (client of mine) right now is $175,000 for 60 hours per month of work. I would love to have such a job but my vision is awful!

When should the pilots have seen it coming? What year was this?

And where is a pilot supposed to go apply? There are thousands of pilots furloughed and the number continues to grow.
