Wow, an airline in financial trouble. Why didn't you post this in Breaking News?

As I understand it, apart from Southwest and JetBlue, most other major airlines are financial basket cases - either bankrupt, or about to go bankrupt. Why would anyone in their right mind buy airline stock or otherwise extend credit to an airline?

All these airlines in bankruptcy...it's the fault of labor (particularly the pilots), not management and any of their decisions. Right? Oh come on, freepers...don't let your bias show thru-

Ooops - both of my local airport's airlines (Delta and Northwest) have filed for bankruptcy today - but I guess this is a good thing in today's terms. I have a ticket to Spain on Delta next month, and I guess bankruptcy means that they have a bit of time to work things out and keep flying. I hope, at least...

Some capitalists they are, not paying their debts. Hiding in bankruptcy court so they will be able to hang other people with their financial woes. They should have downsized years ago, too late now.

For what it's worth to the discussion, I flew NW from Toronto through Detroit to Indianapolis and back last week and the service was great, the planes were on time and I felt I received great value for the price of my ticket.

I have flown NW to Tokyo 4 times in the last year. I can't think of one legitimate complaint regarding their service or performance.

I hope they come out of this good. I am a happy NW customer, and no, I have no connection to the company. So there.

A short "THANK YOU" to all the union brothers who made this possible!

Quick strike update at NW, the union goons and thugs are getting desperate.

Witness this little picture of the thickneck jerks doing routine intimidation.

The goons and guidos think this is acceptable behaivior.

I'm no expert, but I know from first-hand experience that NWA has, for many years, been too inefficient to stay afloat. They have way too many paper-shufflers to be healthy.
I personally wrote an application about 2 years ago for them that tracks the certificates they issue. Free tickets, seat upgrades, etc. Until I wrote this program they never bothered to monitor how much money was being used for these and where these certificates went. I can tell you that just a quick scan at some of the numbers in this system show billions, yes billions, of dollars run through this thing. They never tracked this stuff!
The current strike has very little, if anything, to do with NWA going chapter 11.

I guess the govt. bailouts was a waste of money.
