Actually, I never saw "Ernest Goes to Camp." It just popped into my head as the sort of movie that a high-ranking politician would be loathe to admit he loved. Remember Quayle's all-too-honest answer, "Ferris Bueler's (sp?) Day Off"?
And no, I'm not being snobby by not admitting to having watched Ernest movies; I'll admit to having watched, "Dude, Where's My Car?" "Ernest Goes to Camp" is probably high-brow compared to that.
1. Taxi Driver
2. Clockwork Orange
3. Diner
4. Il Vitteloni
5. Mean Streets

(Worse yet, I'll admit to having laughed out loud at the "Dude! What's mine say?" "Sweet! What's mine say?" "Dude! What's mine say?" routine. And then...)
TAXI DRIVER!
You win the politically-incorrect-movies-for-Roberts-to-admit-loving contest!
Actually, he was recently in another film - Hildalgo, with Vitto M. from Lord of the Rings. He played a Sheik. He is still very much around.
If you have kids, you have to watch Ernest Goes to Camp. I have six, so I have seen it numerous times.
"The Swimmer" is a pretty odd movie. I'll have to check to see if it's playing in TV guide.
My top 5
1. The Godfather
2. In Search of the Holy Grail
3. Bravehart
4. The Silence of the Lambs
5. Tombstone
Chariots of Fire
What do you think of my Top 10 (Post #103)?
She was qualified and Republicans generally do not oppose qualified people. There is no reason to impose ideological tests like the RATs do.
And we did not have a majority in the Senate in any case.
Some of the really silly 'low-brow' movies have great lines. In Three Ninja's there is a back and forth between three inept would-be kidnappers that goes like this: Slurpy? Radical! Slurpy? Dude! My husband and I still do that on car trips and the kids roll their eyes.
Now that's a vicious contest!
I don't really have much use for the SW films, prefer Manhattan to Annie Hall and think ACO is one of Mr. K's weakest features...otherwise solid!
Hmmm I'll have to see if the MT version is on DVD at Netflix!
