Like you, a speed bump qualified as a major hurdle..:))
When we went to Rapid City, South Dakota from Florida to live in 1961, I had altitude sickness for 3 or 4 days, adjusting.
The elevation in the city was over 3,500 feet, and rose from there.
I had to use High Altitude recipes for baking.

If you crossed the Indian River from Melbourne over to Indialantic Beach at any time, when I moved there in 1942, there was only a two-lane wooden draw bridge - often stopped to let tall-masted boats pass through the raised center part.
Now it is odd to think of the two concrete bridge spans with ample lanes.
That was true in Cocoa, too, now that I think of it.
