A bit off topic but a question, I did not catch the whole interview as I was preparing dinner but a man in some kind of uniform was speaking on FNC (either Police, Guard etc - as I said I was in and out of the room) but what I caught was something like they were being paid fortnightly or weekly.
I was surprised in England hardly anyone is paid other than monthly straight into ones bank account even factory and shop workers is this normal in the States?

Some companies pay every week, usually on Friday....that's all over the country. I get paid every other week, and so does my husband, we off set weeks, which means we get a pay check a week. He gets his direct deposited into our account, I still get a paper check, which I like better myself. Some places, usually government jobs get paid once a month. Alot of places are going to direct deposit, it doesn't cost them as much in administration fees.

I can't speak for everyone, but I think most people are paid every two weeks, or twice a month........like on the 1st and the 15th of the month.
That's pretty standard. And it only goes directly into your account if you want it to in most cases. My husband's salary goes directly to our account, and I pick up paychecks from both my places of employment.
