Why are all these men so obsessed with Terri's legacy? Why is her death-murder always on their minds?

Gosh, do you think they actually have a conscience and are haunted by their parts in her death? Will wonders never cease?

I'd like to know if they warned them and then told them how to evacuate, offered help...or just warned them..

How do you get a building full of non-ambulatory patients out? I'm withholding judgement until I find out if they even had alternatives. Just "warning" isn't enough. You have to have several abulances, and ambulance drivers, to evacuate dozens of patients. Seems to me that the authorities are looking for someone they can point to, and beat up...

There were buses available to evacuate these patients, buses that were turned down by the owners.

In fact, there were 3 or 4 other nursing homes close by, all of which evacuated.

(I heard that last night from I think the AG or maybe DA who is charging them, or it could have been a local police officer, it was on Nancy Grace's show.)

The owners took a boat out when only half of these patients had been gotten out. They left 5 aides to try to get the rest out. Nancy Grace described one of the aides as a tiny little woman.

They did the evacuation very late in the game, the owner said that they never had to evacuate before, so didn't think they would have to this time.

Joe Biden hammered away at nominee John Roberts today about feeding tubes. Roberts would not comment to the degree that Biden was hoping for. Biden looked the fool and Roberts stood his ground. Biden's position was that it was audacious for a legislature to tell someone that they could NOT have their feeding tube removed, preventing them from assisting in their suicide.

I think it's much worse if someone is TOLD THAT THEIR FEEDING TUBE IS GOING TO BE REMOVED and that person knows that they are going to suffer and die.

Terri Schiavo 1963 - 2005 May she rest in peace.

Too bad this nursing home isn't in Taxachucetts. They don't press charges for negligent homicides by drowning

Looks like Florida's governor is into eastern mysticism. That helps explain why he left Terri to die. This was in the St. Pete Times today and not out of thin air. We are researching who mystic warrior Chang is. Jeb stated that he prays to Chang to help him deal with tough issues. We are researching this on a Terri thread. There goes his career. I can't support a faux Christian.

President Bush is a Christian. I am not indicting the entire Bush clan.

If Jeb Bush is invoking a mystic warrior to help him, that's not something Christians would ever do. Jeb's changed.

Really! faux Christian is right, then, if this is true.

Deeper in the article Nagin says:

I'm going to be a man about this. Whatever I did, whatever I could have done better, I'm going to stand up and history will judge me accordingly.

He's going to be a man about this. When?

He's going to stand up and history will judge him accordingly. Ah, yes it will.

Since parts of NO are opening up, how soon will our 'man' sell that Dallas house and move back? Today? Oh, maybe those neighborhoods are too 'rough' for him??

Even if it was a joke, it's not funny. It shows that he doesn't take his oath of office very seriously re: tough decisions. I think it's masonic to give swords to people.

Jeb must have abandoned Terri upon consulting his crystal ball. Did you see that Terri's parents are supposed to be on EWTN tonight???? They aren't on yet.

PLEASE PING ALL FREEPER ANIMAL LOVERS. THEY ARE SHOOTING DOGS FOR NO GOOD REASON - KATRINA RELATED. A Sheriff in NO is shooting dogs left and right. Here's the info on that.

St. Bernard Parish Sherriffs shooting friendly dogs from the back of a pick-up truck. Video, ways to call and voice outrage Video link of St. Bernards Parish Sheriff shooing dogs (with wagging tails) from the back of a pickup truck. Florida has Senior Day Care Centers if people need to go to work.

IIRC, they are more expensive than Child care and not covered by insurance. I agree, more options should be available for people to take care of their own. If insurance companies were more flexible, it could be a win/win situation for everyone involved...(except for nursing homes, that is)

They had five bleeping days to evacuate!!!

According to the noaa archives, it wasn't a hurricane 5 days before and LA had about a 2-4% chance of being hit by Tropical Storm Katrina at THAT point in time.

I don't see them being able to convict both the owners AND the employees on this one. IF they were under mandatory evacuation and had adequate opportunity, time, and resources and the owners refused to do so... does not mean that the employees had to buy into that stupidity.

They don't have to convict the employees. However, all of them who are licensed should either lose their licenses or have them suspended. I take it you are neither a doctor nor a nurse. We have ethics. These people ignored their responsibility to their patients and allowed them to die.

There was a mandatory evacuation and the owners chose not to evacuate.

Not ALL doctors and not ALL nurses have ethics. The licensed staff should have stayed because the owners chose not to evacuate? They should have gone against mandatory evacuation orders?? Even if that meant NOT evacuating any minor children they may have? Should private citizens with children (or disabled/elderly) in their care be charged with neglect if they did not evacuate?

I think we have not heard enough of the facts in this case to make judgement.

Admission by their attorney: They left behind people with feeding tubes. Throw the book at them - federal and state laws were violated. JAIL. Blaming it on the feeding tube patients who can't defend themselves because they all drowned.

Bet their attorney knows Florida's death lawyers.
