Panic and indifference. I bet the literature package for this particular nursing home says what a wonderful, safe place it is. Families must rearrange their lives to take care of their own. It is a sacrifice and requires a change in lifestyle but it is a loving way to treat our family members. Sticking them somewhere is no guarantee that they will be safe. The faster Wilkes & McHugh gets involved, this NH will cease to exist. Go, Jim Wilkes!

I am glad to see this ruling. How dare the owners, operators, nurses, doctors, leave patients while they go for higher ground?

Visiting nurses ck vital signs, it's cheaper than paying for a bed in a NH and they can do preventative medicine for diabetic patients, dialysis patients, patients with skin disorders and mild stroke patients who need a little therapy. Visiting nurses need promotion.

My favorite congressman, Dave Weldon of Florida. You should call his office sometime. He's a doctor and he's my favorite congressman for various and sundry reasons.

A sacrifice, yes...but, sometimes, depending on the elderly or ill person...it's not always an extreme sacrifice...sometimes may only be a minor inconvenience....if nurses can come by fairly often for those who are more ill or helpless....that would help, especially if it's an elderly person taking care of another elderly person. But a NH is the last place I'd want to be or those I loved....of course, there are those who aren't home all day...so solutions need to be figured out for that.

Hope that Wilkes can shake things up out there.

My favorite congressman, Dave Weldon of Florida.

I remember watching him speak; he's a good man. (I don't think he'd take my call, though, as I'm out of state. : )

Florida has Senior Day Care Centers if people need to go to work.

If I were to have the vision and knowledge of my deceased grandmother choking and dying while attempting to inhale the fetid waters of Louisiana, I would call the Attorney General of La. and my personal counsel.

This is one of the most horrific events to make the news.

I assign not blame. I will watch the trial, if the matter comes before the court.

I'd be surprised if he wouldn't take your call. I call out of state sometimes but I don't bother calling McCain. He's gone on tirades about Terri like Howard Dean and Turban Durbin have. Why are all these men so obsessed with Terri's legacy? Why is her death-murder always on their minds?

I didn't know that...that's a great idea for them; they can visit with people during the day....not be stuck inside...change of scenery too...that's healthy for them.

Florida let Terri down completely but they have programs for Seniors galore. It's a matter of finding the right program. Elder programs are more functional here than programs for disabled Floridians. That is regrettable.

Ya think some Senators and congressman are totally frightened of what they call the religious right? I hate the term religious right anyway.

Christians were some of the first private groups who came to the aid of Katrina victims. They never get enough credit for their good works but these anti-Terri politicians imo feel threatened by religion, especially Christians. There's nothing to fear - it makes no sense whatsoever.

Sure it does.

They are threatend by those who stand on a principal of a Higher Authority...because they cannot be bribed, will not waiver, cannot condone, will not look away, not for money, not for favors, not for anything...not those who have a deep convinction...they will not be moved. They "Stand Firm."

That's quite threatening to one who does not have those same principals or Guide.

Drowning? Sounds euphoric to me! I bet they were never more beautiful, more at peace..

Especially since many of them probably didn't have full use of all their brain, legs, confined to wheelchairs, just not productive anymore.

And I dare say, I do not believe most politicians have that same Guide, or principals, or convictions....if any, very few. They'd gladly sell their souls, many of them.

With Bush in such a weak position, he will not nominate a Luttig, a Brown or a Jones, i.e., a true conservative. This is why the RATs are causing the hysteria.

Right you are. Except Bush will nominate a true conservative no matter what his poll numbers are IMO. He knows what they are up to and it ain't gonna work.

The local doctor I saw, or maybe it was the son of one of the patients who died, said this was an absolutely wonderful place.
