Why doesn't she push our lawmakers to reduce or cut all the TAXAS on gasoline. NY is one of the most heavily taxed states and they wonder why people and businesses are leaving it.

Exactamundo. A moratorium (permanent would be good) on the state and federal taxes on gasoline would be far wiser. And yes, the vast majority of NY is red; the cities are blue (surprise!! NOT). Upstaters have wanted to cut NYC loose for years; its nothing but a huge financial drain on upstate.

Please stop this fool. Prices are already coming back down.

Either she's an idiot, or the 'game' is to lock the price in at $2.50 per. You need an act of Congress to reverse an act of Congress.

Slaughter says if her plan garners enough support there could be a cap on the price of gas by the end of the year.

Why not put a cap on taxes? Think she would ever propose that?

Friggin socialists!!

My area's prices have fallen to $2.42 in one city, below this artificial 2.50 cap. The other gas stations are now in a scramble to quickly deflate. Meanwhile the state's government has suggested lifting the state's gas tax for three months.

Still $3.29 here in Columbia, MD. And that's on the cheaper end.

Hasn't changed since Katrina.

Quickest way to ensure a shortage and long lines at the pumps. This jerk needs to be taken to the woodshed.

Slaughter has introduced the "Emergency Petroleum Allocation Act." It would temporarily cap the price of gas at 2-dollars 50-cents a gallon. It would also direct the Secretary of Energy to develop criteria for declaring the sort of national fuel emergency that would trigger future price controls.

One good reason for Crapchester NOT to get a Tour Stop, if they all voted for the assface.

Following in Nixon's wage and price control footsteps. Triggered the ensuing inflation which Carter exacerbated.
