Now some fresh pickings from the Hurricane Grapevine:
New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin (search) greeted President Bush when he arrived in Louisiana last night, and was at his side as he fielded questions on the Katrina relief efforts this morning. That quality time with the president, however, marks the mayor's first visit to the disaster area since Wednesday when Nagin pulled up stakes and moved his family to Dallas. The Dallas Morning News reports that Nagin has already bought a house in the city, and enrolled his daughter in school.
When the Mayor appeared on "Meet the Press" on Sunday from Dallas, he was never asked about his presence there, or his decision to move his family.

LOL, as long as he is a private citizen and not elected to anything, he should be harmless.
I could see him temporarily moving to Baton Rouge, but Dallas? I could see him renting an apartment, but buying a home? This is bizarre.
Or a Republican.
You're missing the obvious: Nagin's looking for school busses to use for the next big one.
He couldn't find any in New Orleans, so he's had to branch out. And because that job's so difficult, he's placed someone on the inside to do the undercover work.
Yeah, that's the ticket.
NOW GO HOME!
Nagin and his family do the Big D scene!
"Russert used to be a tough, but fair, interrogator. He's gone deep to the dark side, I suspect from Hate-Bush-occoccus."
Russert was never tough on liberals and fair with conservatives. That was an image he honed on tv like Chrissy Matthews and Arriana. The reality is that all three were/are lunatic libs with the capability of fooling a lot of moderates and conservatives before their reality seeps in.
(And so are the rest of the Louisiana DimocRATs.)
The rats scurry away from their stinking, sinking ship and the misery they could have allieviated if only they understood their jobs and responsibilities.
I'd guess that N.O. probably has a "deputy mayor" position of some sort.
He better not try running for mayor of Dallas ... we already have an incompetent fool doing that (Laura Miller), we don't need someone who would actually be worse!
Dallas needs a new Mayor. He is just positioning for the next elections.
People will realize that in a crisis all government is local and start to look at who they have elected to the mayors office.
If that person cares more about hotel taxes and casinos and tourists than about the safety and well being of their constituents, then it is best to have a big SUV and a plan to get yourself and your loved ones out early.
He and John Wiley Price will become fast friends, no doubt.
Nagin is a mayor without a city....
I have heard of rats leaving a sinking ship, leaving a sinking city is a new twist.
