WASHINGTON - Jack and Josie came in right on cue, trailing their father, the man in line to be the next chief justice of the United States. Senators stooped first to greet the youngsters, 5-year-old Josie, in her baby blue party dress and white headband, and 4-year-old Jack, in his blue blazer, bow tie and short gray flannel pants. Only then did the senators rise to welcome Dad, also known as John Roberts
Liberal' kids don't wear dresses and blazers....
Did Jack do The Robot?
Some photos from this morning: http://news.yahoo.com/photos/sm/events/pl/120503supremecourt/p:1
The AP just declared open season on Roberts' kids. Better stock up on blood pressure meds and Maalox, because the rest of the media will soon be sliming away.
Kids ought not be at such a hearing.
Specter (sp) had Roberts to introduce his family first because Roberts said the children have a hearings tolerance of 5 minutes!
I wonder why the children were there at all. I have 3 and I can't even imagine bringing my children. Maybe it was ceremonial beginning and then after all of the "good morning's and hello's" the kids get to leave and the adults get down to business?
#1 Rule in Show Biz - never follow a Kid or Trick Animal act!
Probably a good thing to have the children present just long enough to be introduced. It allows the public to see that the nominee is a father of young children. It also makes Roberts look like the fine papa that I'm sure he is!
Haven't they heard of babysitters?
There's a time and place to have the kids around. This isn't one of them.
Only a matter of time before a DUmmie accuses Jack of being "gay".
Good publicity! demoncRATS hopefully won't beat up dad on his first day of hearing in front of the kids.
I think it's a good PR thing.
Jack is as cute as a button! But boy, does he look like a BUSY kid.
You're right. As I recall, Mrs. Heinz-Kerry suggested they run around naked....
I hope you're right.
I wouldn't bring my 5-year-old to something like this.
Do you have kids? If I was there I would DEFINATELY bring my girls in (at the start) - but not to sit there the whole time.
The look on his face when playing with his son tells me more about this man than much else I have heard.
And thats a good thing.
The youngsters managed to make it through Specter's 10-minute opening statement before winning their freedom. Almost before Specter finished his remarks, they popped out of their seats to be ushered out.
I think JR was on to something...
Yes, I do. See my #16.
I care far less about his relationship with his children than I do his judicial philosophy.
Your mileage may vary.
