Belgrade, 12 Sept. (AKI) - Bosnian authorities have issued more than 13.000 passports to mujahadeen from Islamic countries who fought alongside Muslims in the 1992-1995 civil war, Serbian news agency Tanjug alleged today, quoting Bosnian police sources. The agency said that foreign intelligence sources and members of the United States Congress were aware of the figures. Citing congressional sources, the agency said that between 15.000 and 30.000 mujahadeen fought in Bosnia and many of them acquired Bosnian passports and remained in the country.
Among those who had obtained Bosnian passports were many individuals who have been known for their links to Islamic extremist organizations and the al-Qaeda terrorist network, it said. Quoting Bosnian intelligence sources, the agency said that mujahadeen units were concentrated in the area of Bosnian towns of Zenica, Travnik and Busovaca.
The mujahadeen in Busovaca during the war operated a camp of 5.000 soldiers who came to Bosnia mostly from Pakistan, Sudan, Afghanistan, Nigeria, Kuwait and other Islamic countries, through Croatia, the agency said.

I remember when mujahadeen were freedom fighters working with the US to rid Afghanistan (and other places) of commies trying to take over. Much like portrayed in a Clancy novel or a Stallone movie. Then the Taliban moved in on them. Sigh.
