As the US and Iraqi forces continue their week long occupation in Tel Afer, an al-Qaeda linked organization has threatened for a chemical attack if the operation is not ended within 24 hours.
An Internet notice from Abu Musab al-Zarqawi from the Iraqi division of al-Qaeda and other organizations like Ansar al-Sunnah said, If the Tel Afer operation does not end in 24 hours, Ceyh al-Taif al-Mansura military office has decided to organize attacks towards important and strategic targets of the occupation and Iraqi forces using chemical weapons developed by the Mujaheeden.
Zarqawi condemned the occupation in Tel Afer and called on insurgents to take up arms.
Those who had been defeated many times reside in Tel Afar where they have tasted defeat and pain, Zarqawi challenged in the tape recording broadcast on an Internet site.

Why make claims like this? His support cannot be too strong in Iraq right now and this threat, which probably is BS, makes him look even weaker. Sounds like a baseless, last ditch effort to me.

I think it is about time that we start manufacturing munitions that incorporate a drop of pigs blood within the projectiles. They believe that if they die contaminated by the unclean blood of swine there will be no Allah and no VW Microbus full of virgins and we should use that belief to our advantage.
There is a story that General Pershing once put down an arab uprising by digging a pit and slaughtering 100 pigs in it. Then he lined up 100 arab captives along the edge of the pit and shot 99 of them face down in the pig offal. The last captive he released to go and tell his buds what he had witnessed. There were no more arab uprisings in the area for 50 years.
I don't know if the story is true or not, but my bet is that there would be no "martyrs" stepping up for a glorious death if it involved being soiled with pig's blood.

Well, if this was news yesterday, shouldn't the 24 hours be up already? Unless, of course, the tape was made 2 days ago, in which case the 24 hours would have expired 24 hours ago. Or they filmed it 3 days ago, in which the 24 hours ...
I'm getting dizzy.

Yea, sounds good to me....or even pig-blood-dipped-bullets are better too...

Sounds like the Iraqi military operation (supported by the US) is striking a nerve, and doing significant damage to the terrorist network.
Zarqueeri should be complaining to the head of Syria and for Syria to export WMD's to Iraq for terrorist use...

We need to find Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, it's time to cut the daisies around his house with our daisy cutter.
It's the neighborly thing to do. :)

Well for sure now our offensive is working, and as long as that is our guide and not fear of Zarqawi, maybe we will root his group completely out of one area in Iraq.

it looks like 72 virgins are going to be too busy in the next few days.
I seriously wonder if it isn't the same group of 72 virgins who provide sevices rendered, and they just keep getting recycled everytime one of moo-hammed's martyrs wins a trip to AllahLand.

The little ol' jihadis would be pretty upset to know their little threat didn't make FR's Breaking News!

That was my point. Maybe I was too subtle?

That was pretty stupid. We can fight in a chemical environment -- we have the equipment and the training. All he did was tell us to keep the chemical detectors out and MOPP gear ready.

a chemical attack if the operation is not ended within 24 hours. Juan Williams wants to know what FEMA is going to do about it.

I thought Congress declared war on Iraq in the first conflict to free Kuwait? There has never been a Congressionally declared war (state of war existing) since WWII.
