There was a Washington Post article the other day about Louisiana politics, the levees, the Corps of Eng. spending, and how, when the Corps study of a particular program did a cost/benefit analysis that showed that it was worthless, she snuck a rider in the bill funding Iraq, that directed the Corps to re-do the study. In other words, cook the books.

Im betting on the democratic leadership. They cant stand the idea of their democratic Louisiana base being disseminated to TX

That said, If I was Brown I would resign just to keep from being a distraction and damaging the President. I guess I expect all those who serve at the pleasure of the President to be willing to fall on their sword for the greater good.

I agree with Ben Stein, though, that you have to be very careful doing that, because you can end up with an ugly Nixonian situation where you throw everybody overboard.

In this case, Brown was expendable with lots of other people ready to step up. Although I do think he got a bum rap, it will all end up ok.

That is excellent journalism. There are a lot of politicians covering their backsides right now. The President isn't one of them.

Exasperating...to say the least...the incompetence of Louisiana is breathtaking...Mississippi was more devastated...We heard very little from Mississippi or Alabama. FEMA is third responder. Why are people so stupid without a grasp on how this works?

Then you think of Florida last year with 4 hurricanes...you heard no complaining coming out of there by the folks.
