I can't fathom ever abdicating my responsibility to be my own first line of self defense and hand that over to "the authorities."

Have you called your congressman and senators over what is happening in N.O.? If not you are passively accepting the disarming of fellow Americans. Have you called the NRA-ILA? GOA? etc.
