New York Plans 9/11 Observance(Never Forget!)

On the fourth anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, the city of New York plans to observe moments of silence Sunday at 8:46 a.m. and 9:03 a.m. to mark the times that each hijacked jetliner struck the twin towers, and at 9:59 a.m. and 10:29 a.m., for the times each tower collapsed.

More than 600 family members who lost brothers or sisters will read the victims' names at the site, while Gov. George E. Pataki, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, former Mayor Rudolph Giuliani and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice all planned commemorative readings.

The attacks in New York were followed by two more terrorist plane crashes -- one into the Pentagon in Washington, another into a field near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Everyone on board the two planes was killed, along with 100 people on the ground.

On Saturday, more than 500 relatives of September 11 victims rallied at the World Trade Center site against a proposed museum.

Family members worry the International Freedom Center will take attention away from those who died in the attack. They held pictures of their loved ones and signs that read "Preserve Sacred Ground."

They said the museum should not be allowed to show exhibits about struggles for freedom around the world.

"These are important stories to tell," said Jack Lynch, whose firefighter son Michael Lynch is one of the 2,749 people who died at the trade center. "Elsewhere, not at America's memorial."

"The IFC threatens to turn ground zero into a place of endless controversy rather than a place of honor," said Anthony Gardner, whose brother Harvey died at the trade center.

The Freedom Center and another museum, the Drawing Center, were chosen more than a year ago to occupy cultural space at the site in a building close to the planned "Reflecting Absence"

This is Juliana McCourt (age 4) and her mom, Ruth Clifford McCourt. They both died on Flight 175.

I knew both of these women. Ruth had been my wife's boss in the 1980s, and Paige was a friend of my wife's family.

I can't say I knew either of those women well, although I had seen them both socially many times. And I never met Ruth's little girl Juliana, who was a year older than my own daughter.

But even now, hardly a day goes by that I don't think of them and their horrible fate. Especially that beautiful little girl.

I just thought they should be acknowledged here on the anniversay of their deaths.

And that includes the crime of silence created around these events by Progressives, Liberals, and Domestic Traitors.

God bless our fellow Americans who were martyred on 9/11.
