The issue: Four years since the terrorist attacks
Our view: Part of the 9/11 healing process is bringing bin Laden to justice.
Four years ago, our nation was changed forever on this day.
This year, for the first time since those horrific terrorist attacks, we feel as if the nation is finally starting to heal - events and activities are scheduled for this day without nearly the anxiety felt in 2002, 2003 and even 2004.
But even though it's important to heal - and to focus on a more recent human tragedy in the Gulf - we can't ever forget what happened on that crisp morning in New York, Washington, D.C., and in a Pennsylvania field, a man whose last words were "Let's Roll" died just after he heroically led a failed attempt to regain control of the doomed airplane.
Today, we cherish the memory of those who died and honor those who perished trying to save these most innocent victims of terror.
We can't forget what happened four years ago, and that's what makes the fact that the evil mastermind of the attacks remains at large such a travesty.
We've spent four years and in the neighborhood of $400 billion on the "war on terror," so far, yet the man who did this to us is still on the loose.
We owe it to the victims' families and to the nation to hunt down Osama bin Laden and bring him to justice.
Halliburton?
Is it possible that we are actually doing everything humanly possible to get him ? Hirohito and Hitler were heads of state , we knew where they were most times. This pig is one of a million camel jockys crawling around in some cave in the middle of no where...He could be dead or half dead by this time/
Many NAZI's escaped to Brazil back then. OBL is not a leader of a country. He is a shadowy figurehead, he cannot appear before his people, he cannot function and move freely in a country of his own. Every war brings new challenges, new problems. His day will come, just as Saddams did.
Zot refers to a figurative bolt of lightning striking; in this case, it means the mods have smitten you with a ban.
OBL has left the building.
I second that feeling BANG
If Osama were captured or killed you would agree the with the war in Iraq?
Why would you want "a ban" or other punishment for posting an article calling for the capture of the bastard who killed more than 1300 people on American soil on 9-11? What other murderers should escape justice, in your mind - - Scott Peterson? OJ? Unabomber?
Come on, Churchillbluff, you have been here long enough.
Yep, get him a lawyer, read him his rights, pick an L.A. jury, and he might get 6 months in jail and 40 hours of community service. There's a plan.
I got a better one. Kill him and every follower we can find.
Osama is in hiding, reciently I have had the feeling that Z-man has also gone into hiding and is no longer operating from Iraq. Its hard enough to find someone in the backwoods of Appalachia, it is damn near impossible to find someone in another country that you aren't allowed to be in with anything more then a tiny presence and where everyone hates you and the government in that country is not really that helpful.
Wasn't there a tape from him this summer? Also, the CIA chief said he knew where OSama is. IF that's so, why don't we go get him? sorry, but I don't like the idea of murderers being allowed to go loose - be it OJ or Osama.
BTW, it took a while to get Hannibal, too. But after Carthage was razed, it became less of an imperative.
The MSM perpetuates the myth that terrorism is unstoppable because it is run by shadowy groups that are beyond anybody's control. On the rare occasion that an islamic country is confronted about terrorism sponsored from their country, they just shrug, say it's beyond their control, and rant that the cause is America's evil foreign policy, which makes ordinary factory workers and dentists become crazy jihadists because America outrages and humiliates muslims everywhere.
The fact is, terrorism is supported and financed by GOVERNMENTS. bin Laden is just the figurehead. The way that you stop terrorism is by making it too painful for governments to continue sponsoring it, starting with the Axis of Evil. You let them know that they better clean up their act or else their government will be toppled. In the end, that's what had to happen to Iraq. Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iran, and North Korea need to be next. I hope our next president has the courage to take this on. We're doomed by business-as-usual politicians.
LOL, Churchy, the master of the obvious, and therefore, such a bore.
I've been here since 1998 -- six years longer than you, newbie. And if you have a problem with my wanting the murderer of 1300 people at World Trade Towers captured and killed, then we'll just have to agree to disagree. Unlike you, however, I won't say "you've been here long enough" merely because you don't share my desire to have Osama brought to justice (and executed)
That has to be the most ignorant statement any so called Freeper could make. That sounds more like something coming from the mouth of Al Franken...
Should we not move forward with the big picture until we capture OBL?
Should we not have pressured Libya to surrender their Nuke Capabilities until we captured OBL?
Should we have not ended Saddam's funding of Suicide Bombers and removed any doubt of his WMD intentions until we captured OBL?
I am so sick and friggin tired of narrow minded vision-less posters like you that I wish you would just make the move to DU where you belong
I believe in punishment for murder. Osama is a murderer - thousands were murdered by him on 9-11. If you don't want their deaths avenged, then you and I have a disagreement.
