Wow Jeff... thanks for posting those pics. That illustrates it perfectly...
I think it's going to be rather hard for them to raise the fund for this - at least I hope it is (if they keep this design). I think the heroes of Flight 93 deserve a fitting memorial not one that at the very least subliminally gives tribute to their murderers...
Here is a little more info about the memorial, funding, etc... The following is excerpted from an
article at CNN
Murdoch's design still must get the approval of the director of the National Park Service and the secretary of the Interior.
By unveiling the design in Washington, organizers hope to garner more publicity for their campaign to raise $30 million in private money for the project. The fundraising campaign is being co-chaired by former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge, who was the first Homeland Security Secretary, and retired Gen. Tommy Franks, who oversaw operations in Afghanistan and Iraq after the terrorist attacks.
The state of Pennsylvania has already donated more than $10 million for the memorial. A projected date for the opening has not been set.
Re #32: OMG!
The problem is, so many people don't understand the symbolism here.
The word needs to get out--this memorial is a slap in the face to the heroes in that plane. It must be stopped.
Let's roll!
