The LibertyNews mirror of Eric Krout's 9/11 Attack image archive is up and running again. This is an archive of images collected in the days just after the attacks, and has not been updated except for the addition of a few audio files. It provides a good snapshot of what we were seeing and hearing in the chaotic days following the terrorist attacks on New York and the Pentagon.

The archive is now using a cache system so that access to it should not be effected by heavy load (last year it peaked at about 400k/bs which it a bit more than my current pipe can handle. The www.nyud.net mirroring system is being used to spread the load across local cache systems. I also have a blog running at http://www.libertynews.org and you're welcome to drop in and post.

As a side note, all Google ad revenue from the site is being donated to the Salvation Army.

After these years I cannot believe how angry looking at those images made me.

"(deleted) Islamic (deleted)" was only the feeble prelude to what I was thinking as I veiwed that archive.

Possibly, in those hours, we knew few details, and the first reports could well have merely decribed a tragic accident. But later, like approaching a garbage can on a hot day, the closer we got, the more vile it became.
