I guess we agree in our opinion of the planter aristocracy, but we disagree in that I think that the typical Southerner would have been better served by standing with the old Union and against the slave fanatics that led the South to ruin. That was also the opinion of Parson Brownlow and he had a good influence in the East Tennessee region through his writings in the Knoxville Whig.

had Parson Brownlow done his writing "up there", he'd have been IMPRISONED by "Dishonest abe's" minions & likely transported to one of the DY hellholes like Point Lookout DEATH CAMP, as MANY northern critics of the "lincoln MISadministration" were.

SOME of those media critics "were disappeared". (think 1950 Argentina here.)

once more, had "DIShonest abe" been SMART ENOUGH to let the new nation "go in peace", there would have been NO NEEDLESS war & the south would NOT have been left in ruins. AND a MILLION (mostly peaceful) citizens would have NOT lost their lives in "mr. lincoln's" IMPERIALIST war!
