First I would have to point out to the ignorant southern boy that there is no 10th Amendment to the Bill of Rights. There is a 10th Amendment to the Consitution.
Second, I would point out to the ignorant southern boy that the 10th Amendment details the division of powers between the states and the central government, but contains no clause or section detailing how the government can assume powers granted to the states or how the states can resume powers granted to the government.
Third, I would quote the amendment in full:
"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."
So where does it say that the states can resume powers?

Let's see. Hood, Ewell, Beauregard, both Johnstons, Polk, Bragg, Hill, Pillow, Pemberton, and on and on and on. Yep, tactical geniuses, all of them.
Other than Jackson and Lee, and maybe Forrest, the south was sadly lacking in 'capable tactical commanders'. Compare that with Grant and Sherman and Thomas and Reynolds and Hancock and McPherson and Sheridan and numerous others. The North comes out the winner.
That's nothing. The History Channel aired a six hour documentary on the men who killed Kennedy, which proved conclusively that he was the victim of an international conspiracy and was assasinated by men...who unfortunately were in jail at the time Kennedy was killed. Oh well, can't be right all the time.

General Lee is considered a brilliant commander by West Point. It does you NO credit to insult him. He was brilliant. If he had the advantages the Federal Army had, the Confederacy would have WON.
One of the biggest myths of the Lost Cause was the brilliance of Robert E. Lee. Great leader perhaps, but brilliant commander I think not.
The Yankees chasing Stand all over Chattanooga have standing orders not to harm him, but once his inevitable capture is completed they shall simply place him a room with wall to wall Abe Lincoln wallpaper, coupled with a fine meal of Yankee pot roast & Boston cream pie. It could not be more clear that the ratification is hinged on the terms stated. The powers that be had a responsibility to reject it if they felt they were inappropriate. Hamilton knew this. Hamilton knew that if he wanted the Constitution at all, he had to accept Virginia's compromise. Hamilton was overruled in New York and they inserted similar language. If he could get it, why is it that his modern-day apologists cannot?
