Maybe because Sean brought his own flak jacket? A member of my family was there in his boat early in the week and had to be called back in because other search and rescue were being shot at.

"I saw a pic of Penn this AM on TV. Apparently on the first page of a newspaper.

He was 'patroling' a street with a shotgun."

Why is a felon holding a shotgun, loaded or unloaded?

And why does HE get to have one when other residents are having THEIR guns taken?

"I witnessed him rescuing up to 40 people," presidential historian and author Douglas Brinkley"

BEWARE ANYTHING DOUGLAS BRINKLEY SAYS!!! HE hAS DESIGNATED HIMSELF TO WRITE THE OFFICIAL HISTORY OF KATRINA. IT WILL RIVAL HIS JOHN KERRY BIO FOR POLITICAL BIAS.

DOUGLAS BRINKLEY HAS BEEN ON DON IMUS, C-SPAN, LARRY KING, (that I know of), AND HIS ENTIRE RANT IS RAGE. UNADULTERATED RAGE AGAINST GEORGE BUSH AND FEMA.

BRINKLEY HAS ALREADY CONDUCTED INTERVIEWS WITH GOVERNOR BLANCO AND MAYOR NAGIN. HE HAS STUDENTS COLLECTING OTHER INTERVIEWS, A LIVING HISTORY HE CALLED IT.
_______________________________________________________

(the following is from my notes as I watched Brinkley on C-Span Washington Journal Friday, Sept 2.)

"He's lying already saying the storm sort of sneaked up on New Orleans.

H'es got an SUV and "got out of town" right after the eye of the storm hit. Poor baby, he's living in a Houston hotel.

He's told all about his boat rescue missions when he went back to New Orleans, because he's that kind of guy. Still no mention of Sean Penn.

Mark my words ...he IS auditioning to be the Katrina Historian of record!! And with his clear bias already exposed. What a crock!!!

Now we get to the meat of it!!! His attack on FEMA begins.
Brian has already mentioned that he watched Brinkley on Imus yesterday, so Brian clearly knows Brinkley's point of view. Brinkley even admits he's angry at FEMA. FEMA's mistakes are mind boggling!!

GAWD! I'd give up chocolate for Brian to read my email, and get to watch Brinkley's face.

Brian asks how long he stayed in New Orleans. He says he stayed in hurricane through the eye passing, I was there for 2 nights of the storm, he says. I wish Brian would ask how long he'd stayed there on his "heroic" boat rescue return to the city. Longer than the 9 hours Penn was there?
Since I bet Brinkley flew back into New Orleans on Penn's private jet, I bet he didn't stay much longer than 9 hours either.

the first caller reminds Brinkley that 90,000 square miles were hit, not just New Orleans. The caller mentions how well Guiliani and Bloomberg and FEMA were coordinated. Oh mygggawd! Brinkley goes after Bush, using this excellent call to blast Bush for not doing what Guiliani and Bloomberg did on 9-ll. Now, he's praising LtGov Landrieu and Mary Landrrieu for their exxcellent work.

I see the president and the horrible job Scott McClellan is doing, acting paralyzed, oh Lord, Brinkley is full of rage for Bush. I hope everyone is watching this venom being spewed, unchallenged by Brian Lamb.

"Real leadership if you study history is not being afraid of getting heckled, not worrying about PR." He calls Bush cowardly for not going back into the belly of the beast.

Oh finally, one itty bitty bit of blame for city and state. calls the plan, "not very realistic", he says. they needed a transportation plan, he says.

Now Brinkley is giving Florida advice...they need a transportation plan too. LOL!

"We spend more money on pet food than we do baby food",he says. We have to meet pet owners needs too, when planning transportation away from disasters. "

A Caller asks if he's ever been in the millitary. The caller says combat involves chaos, and he mocks Brinkley's idea that plans can be all tied up with a pretty ribbon. Confusion runs rampant, he says.

Brinkley says Viet Nam was a political mistake, and so was Katrina. (Brinkley can twist any question into a perfect launch pad for an attack on Bush)

It's a breakdown in the Red Cross that they don't have data processors to input the lost family members.
We should never have another disaster with the federal goverrrnmenet looking like it's an ostrich with it's head in the sand. d
I study presidents for a living, and when a presisdent stays on a vaction , while people are drowning in the US!!! He belittles Jeb Bush's excellence in handling hurricanes, because he's used to it.

I'm not making this stuff up!!!

he also blames cutting of funds, politicians who wouldn't build new levees.

According to Brinkley, every call "is a good question". that's code, for easy one for me to spin against Bush and FEMA.

Now he's using Landrieu rhetoric. "New Orleans is America's Port. The Mississippi River is the Spine of America". That's code for why the feds should keep shoveling money down there, without accountablility so local corrupt pols can fill their pockets..

He was stunned to hear Gov Blanco say "we should pray" . We needed action.

Brinkley asks what would happen if we were hit with dirty bomb? Brinkley won't admit other cities aren't as incompetent as New Orleans.

Shitabrick! Brian is not going to read my email.

Caller describes his city's fine, detailed, printed and widely dispersed plan of action in the event of a disaster. Brinkley admits New Orleans didn't have one. HIs next response? New Orleans says people in New Orleans can't read, even if you had a pamplet, it wouldn't do any good. (How's that admission from someone who won't blame local officials for anything?)

Excuse me...this guy is so fullashithiseyesarebrown.

He gives a sob story about a guy who would have evacuated if he'd been told too, but he didn't know. Then Brinkley says the man did have a tv. How could he not have known to call for help before the storm hit, as Brinkley claimed.

How many Louisiana naational guard men have been killed in Iraq, when they signed up to protect their state. He says " the national guard has been used as mercenaries. "

LORD HAVE MERCY, WE ARE FINDING OUT ALL BRINKLEY"S PREJUDICES. Just how valid can his "history" books and classes be????

In talking about the fault line that lies between Memphis and St. Louis and how their city planners are not planning for it, Brinkley inadvertently and unintentionally exposes the truth about New Orleans local officials. Oops! He said it was city leaders responsibility to do these things.

He gets a great call about the truth of inner cities, and says it sounds racist to him. He identifies himself as a Catholic and Christian. Who knew?

"Why didn't those dummies get out of town?" is how he identifies that callers intent.

Brinkley keeps on mentioning the many people he saw from the rescue boat. Brian really must ask how long Brinkley was back in New Orleans saving people.....but he won't.

Caller says Louisiana with that great port Louisiana has, it should be a very rich state, which leads her to believe the local politicians must be corrupt. Which brings a hearty laugh from Brinkley, as he cheerfully admits Louisiana is and was corrupt.

Brinkley blames Bush for not giving enough money to repair the levees. oh Lord, he's a one trick pony, completely ignoring the scope of the caller's question.

Brinkley says many Fortune 500 companies have left New Orleans, those corporations help cities, we lost them to places like Minneapolis, Atlanta, Memphis. Will new companies come back to New Orleans? With that small airport? With toxic waste? New Orleans schools are the worst in the nation.

Tthe people with money in LOuisiana don't care about the environment. They make their money and leave. (No mention of the crooked, greedy politicians who stick around for the long haul.

He says "I'm for tax cuts".

Sickening buerracracy of FEMA in this disaster. I must criticize Bush for appointing this director....it's cronyism. (Brinkley is so wrong. Brown is crony of Albaugh, NOT Bush).

they did not read my email. I am not surprised.

Sean Penn: Hero

So was Benedict Arnold. (And he had far more justification for his treasonous behavior besides.)

There can't be a war, a disaster or anything anymore, without these so-called celebrities getting in the spotlight, saying "look at me, me, me me!. It's all about them, 24/7.

Maybe the national guard will see Sean Penn making rescues and arrest him for treason for going to Iraq as a guest of Saddam Hussein.

Regardless, I don't believe that Penn is actually making rescues. He sees people who have learned that it is mandatory for them to evacuate and they need a ride to dry land.

According to Rhandi Rhodes he was just trying to get their attention.

Sean said the reason he went to NO was to look for his friends that he lost contact with., not because there were not enough guard there. Just to clear any misunderstanding.
