Doug Brinkley is not an "historian". He is a Democrat historian". His sole function is to make media appearances on like-minded networks in order to spin stories and events along the Democratic line. And his former colleague, Stephen Ambrose, must be spinning in his grave.

Do lefties have to resort to professors for EVERYTHING?!?

LOL! I hadn't noticed that. However, I did automatically assume the whole story was a lie when a 'professional' man was needed to vouch for everything.

These guys can't go to the bathroom without help, what are they doing trying to save people?

Listen up, Professor.

The news reports NEVER said Penn-head's boat had a leak. What I read was that before the rescue mission/photo opportunity, someone failed to replace the drain plug in the bottom of the boat.

I'm sure it wasn't Sean's fault. His person in charge of plugs just made an error. No big deal -- except the person in charge of photography snapped a great photo.

I hope this photo is Sean's legacy. "Too little effort, too much fanfare, red Dixie cup to the rescue."

According to Brinkley, the boat did take on water--because it was "overloaded" with storm survivors.

If you are going to lie, at least try a semi-plausible lie. If the boat were overloaded, then the water would be coming in over the gunwale instead of from the bottom.

Sean Penn comes to the rescue of Katrina victims

Tuesday, 06 September , 2005, 14:59

New York: Hollywood actor Sean Penn took matters into his own hands by launching a boat in a personal effort to rescue families stranded in New Orleans.
According to The New York Daily News, the Oscar-winning actor and political activist managed to reach several people who had been trapped in their homes since Hurricane Katrina hit on Monday.
Penn, who was ***accompanied by his personal photographer*** and a crew of helpers, brought the victims to dry land - and gave them cash as well.

Johnnie Brown, 73, a retired custodian, called his sister on a cell phone after being plucked from his flooded house. "Guess who come and got me out of the house? Sean Penn the actor. Them boys were really nice," he said.

Penn later accompanied a few of them to a hospital.

"Salvaging Sean Penn's Boat (claims boat had no leak, just overloaded with evacuees)"

...

LOL, so now Penns publicist refers to Penns entourage and personal photographer as "evacuees". Hilarious

That's a small boat. The seat in the background would be very near the stern, and we see only three people in the pix.

It's possible there might be one or two others in the boat, hiding from camera view, but that's about it. If there were more, the boat would be listing to the right from the weight of them.

The shoe and sock on the right do not appear to be wet or dirty, so I would guess they belong to one of Sean's people, not an evacuee. (But it still could be an avacuee, I suppose.)

"Saaayyyyy..... Why didn't Mssr. Jacque Kerry bring his big, Louisiana Swift Boat in to help rescue those poor people?"

He was going to, but his peaple decided it wouldn't be good press if he had flashbacks and started shooting women, babies and old men. Heaven forbid if some kid, seeing that hideous head apearing out of the swamp waters turned to run away, Kerry would have a flashback and shoot him in the back. He'd claim a medal for it though, a civic heroism award or something.

Which now demands the question, if you're launching a boat to pick up survivors, why do you already have some? Just in case you didn't find any? Why certainly. One must be prepared. You have to have spares. Apparently they had at least forty in this approximately six man boat

All six must have been light weights!

I thought cell phones weren't working in NO because the towers were all flooded?

Yep. After seeing the picture I think it was overloaded with the three in it.

No, he went out there for a photo op, like many other hollywierdo's. If you are going to help, you don't need a film crew to play back after and show the world how heroic you are.

Doug Brinkley is the same guy who wrote John F Kerry's autobiography which introduced us all to the "magic Hat."

Wow, that's just crazy. The first 'thing' I thought of when reading this Penn story was John Kerry.

Think up the most outrageous, ironic things about liberals and they turn out to be true.

Post the pics from this thread. No way he could fit 40 refugees on that boat.
