Golden Retriever Survives Being Shot 6 Times
Dog Recovering At Medina Animal Hospital
POSTED: 6:05 pm EDT September 6, 2005
MEDINA, Ohio -- A golden retriever that had been shot six times is recovering now after being rescued in Portage County, NewsChannel5 reported.
At first glance, "Ryder" may seem like an ordinary, playful and loving golden retriever, but a closer look reveals a battered and bruised dog.
After Ryder was picked up as a stray in Ravenna Township over, it was discovered that the dog had been shot multiple times.
Tracie Tsai, a volunteer with Golden Retrievers In Need (G.R.I.N.), said the dog was taken to the Stow-Kent Animal Hospital, where veterinarians removed two bullets. The Portage County Humane Society also helped in the rescue effort.
It appears that the other bullets either passed through the dog, or just grazed him.
Tsai said she was astounded by Ryder's spirit, even after being wounded in such a horrible way.
At this time, no one has come forward claiming they've lost their dog, and the Portage County sheriff has no leads on what actually happened.
Ryder is now in the care of the Tender Loving Care Animal Hospital in Medina, where he is getting much needed rest and relaxation.
If you have any information on this crime or would like information on how you can adopt Ryder you can call G.R.I.N. at (216) 556-4746.
Some sick sonofabitch is going to burn in hell for this.
This makes me sick. If they do this to an innocent animal, just think what they would do to another human. No heart, no soul.
I wish I could have returned fire for this poor dog.
Somebody really needs to be shot six times- but just wound them and let them suffer slowly.
Ping
Crap like this pisses me off beyond belief!! grrrr...
The more people I meet, the more I love my dog.
those are great dogs, lots of sick people in this world.
I wouldn't hesitate to shoot someone in the act of doing this to a dog.
That face...looks eerily similar.

'Heartwrenching' ping.
People who treat animals like this usually treat weaker people the same. He is still out there.

Same here.
Some people just need killin'.
Golden Retrievers are wonderful dogs...Thank heavens he was picked up and treated. It looks like lots of people pitched in to help him recover..
I hope they find the sicko who shot him. He is also dangerous to humans if he treats an animal like this.
Just one good gut shot'll do it.
A @#!%! in Martinsburg WV tied his wife's dog to the train tracks and let the train run over him.
The dog "moved" and the train "merely" severed his lower jaw from his skull.
He died slowly and in great agony.
[previously the creep had whacked his wife's cats for "spite"]
WV has a felony animal abuse law.
The "big tough man" went up the river for a couple of years.
Here's hoping that he got a cell with some nasty "Big Bubba" who once had a dog he loved more than anything....
I just put mine to sleep 1 week ago. 13 years old. She was an angel. :(
I think there are alot more stories to come out of New Orleans. It was alot worse than has been reported so far I fear. I was frustrated that people that wanted to take a chance with their own lives decided for their pets too, but that is water under the bridge now and doesn't help to get the animals to safety...
It seems everyone was scared of looting and other crimes and that was a big reason people stayed put also. I just read that one of the policemen that killed himself did so because his wife and daughter were raped, mutilated and murdered.
I have been praying the animals trapped in houses will be allowed to be rescued. I was thrilled someone finally agreed to let the people still in their homes bring their pets out with them. That decision should have been made days ago--
They said the spirit of the dog was amazing after what it had been through--animals are so darn greatful for any kindness and I'm sure this dog is getting smothered in it now. Anyone that gets his thrills by shooting animals is a gutless wonder. God bless all the workers and volunteers working in this disaster...our troops, and those that have lost loved ones.
Sorry to hear that. We got ours from a friend of mine that was deploying to Iraq. 'George' has turned out to be one of the best dogs we've ever had.
Ogrish has a video of marines shooting a dog, and I hated that as well. Even if they're wild.
..Sadistic freak..
He simply wants to control by fear..and can only really control a helpless animal.
