New Orleans Mayor Faces Tough Questions
Washington Post ^ | 09/10/05 | Robert E. Pierre

NEW ORLEANS, Sept. 9 -- Mayor C. Ray Nagin created many new friends and probably as many enemies for his decision to pointedly chastise both Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Babineaux Blanco (D) and the Bush administration for talking too much and working too little. Now, however, difficult questions are being directed at the mayor.

Until Nagin spoke out, Yancy Brown, a native of the Big Easy, had little respect for the mayor, whom he considered too corporate and too disconnected from the black community. "He wasn't acting like a brother," said Brown, 60, a former member of the Black Panther organization. But after Nagin defiantly told the feds -- and indirectly President Bush -- to get off their "asses" and do some work, Brown became a fan.

"That's what he's supposed to do," said Brown, who is still doing maintenance work at the Best Western at Poydras and St. Charles, where journalists covering the event have set up residence. "This place was in trouble, Lord have mercy."

That Broussard guy was the crying creep that was on Meet the Press. He cried about no one coming to help the mother of a firend and she drown. Problem is CBS, yes CBS, debunked this guys story. Emergy help went to the lady in question but she refused to leave.

Washington Post still using this guy as the morality police.

State and local governments in Louisiana aren't in the propaganda mode. They don't have the ability to fight back.

What a joke. With the help of Hitlery and the MSM they have great ability as they've shown over the last while.

It's just that they're now realizing they've lost because they're wrong and conservatives are not letting up.

"There was no place to take them"

This is the excuse of Dems everywhere. Of course, many of the people could have been taken anywhere away from the storm. The non-deployment of the buses before the storm was an economic decision to protect the buses. They lost the gamble this time.

As I said above, I know he has been in the Dallas area for at least 2-3 days --- I have heard him interviewed on local talk radio...

He has been schmoozing with the DAllas Mayor...and I know his family is here...

BUT, he is not down THERE...where HIS city is hurting, and they haven't even found all of the victims, alive or dead.

State and local governments in Louisiana

Obviously haven't heard Mary Landeru recently. She is in full melt down mode. They know they are in DEEEP trouble. That's why all the hype about a "Independent Comission". They know they got to control it.

This can't be downplayed forever. The truth wins out, unless we slack off. :-)

You can read from the article that the author knows this and is trying to deceive his audience that up until this point, what they've read in the WPost and NYT is the truth and that it's just a matter of time before the massive right wing spin machine revs up and clouds the "truth".

"Where are we going to send them?" [new Nagin supporter] Brown asked.

To all the shelters established by the State's Emergency Operation plan! There were loads of inland Red Cross certified shelters provisioned and ready to go. All they ended up lacking was refugees from the mayor.

Bureaucracy has murdered people in the greater New Orleans area, and bureaucracy needs to stand trial before Congress today," Broussard said. "Take whatever idiot they have at the top, give me a better idiot. Give me a caring idiot. Give me a sensitive idiot. Just don't give me the same idiot."

Frankly, I'm getting a little tired of this crap. This country has been so open and generous with these people, yet they will try to sue and get more from us. You sue the government, you are suing the same people who have opened their arms and wallets.

I'm telling you, if this happens, very few people will be charitable the next time there is a disaster. Why give when it's going to be stolen from you by lawyers and ingrates.

Repb Senator: Mayor Nagel, you say you had "NO PLACE TO GO"?

Boss Nagel (Smirking) Yes, that's right.

HOw much time did you spend trying to ARRANGE a place to evacuate to? Why despite the City of NO OWN plan requiring you to evacuate the poor and disabled did you have NO plan of where to go WHEN you evacuated?

I.......I......uhmmmm....ahhhhhhh.......

Should there have been a better plan to evacuate those without cars?

There WAS a better plan. Nagin did not follow it.
