The MSM is structuring coverage to make it look as if the evacuees are still being vivtimized by those who are trying to help them.
My wife, yesterday, held people while they cried with joy over the help that they received. One woman cried because we were able to bring her adult diapers for her husband.
What you are seeing on the press is not what is happening on the ground.
Despite your disbelief in the press as you state it in so many threads, you are being taken in by reporters who are trying to sensationalize a tragedy. Y'all are being had.
Bigtime....
Thank you to you and your wife for the caring you are showing.
Think Fox News should lead the way with some 'thank you' spots. . .highlight the heroes and the grattitude.
It is sickening to listen to the whining. . .night after night/day after day. . .
(life is pain and suffering and that includes broken suffering resulting from natural and man-made disasters)
I could make some suggestions but you probably know already...(grin)
Oh, and to all TEXAS - THANK YOU!
: )
One of my bosses 'adopted' a large family from NO. The mother is a nurse, the father an engineer. The kids went to a Catholic School there and a local Catholic school allowed them to attend for FREE until they can go back home. Also gave them a $300 gift card to a local clothing store for the uniforms and also gave them books. We are taking up clothing collections for the family. Thank you Catholic School and others who are taking this family under their wing. They have no home for now, and can't access their bank because it's a local NO bank and the systems are down, so no way to get to savings or checking account. People don't realize how bad off they would be if they lost everything they owned in the blink of an eye and could not get to their money. I hear alot of 'what I would do's', but most are arrogant and condescending. This is a humbling experience for ALL of us. Not just the poor, but EVERYONE.
""A woman called into a local Atlanta radio show this afternoon relating to all that she was at a high end mall in Buckhead Georgia and a "hurricane victim" whipped out her RED CROSS debit card and bought a Louis Vitton handbag.""
Thank President Bush, General Honore the, Rescue people, the Fire Dept, PD from all over, the CHURCHES (THE LEFT LOVES TO HATE)THE SALVATION ARMY (THE LEFT LOVES TO HATE)WALMART (THE LEFT LOVES TO HATE)RED CROSS,THE MILITARY (THE LEFT LOVES TO HATE)AND EVERYONE ELSE

..Time and again you prove you are the true Reagan son.....with the gentle soul of your earthly father and heavenly Father.
"Thank you President Bush, thank you Harry Connick Jr., thank you police and firemen and National Guardsmen and members of the Red Cross and Salvation Army and all you other heroes."
But don't expect to ever hear that from Kool Aid drinkers. All they want are political points!
Tonight on Washington Week on PBS, host Gwen Ifill asked the panel why Mississippi's response to the hurricane went so much better than Louisiana's. Karen Tumulty of Time Magazine responded that President Bush had not tried to invade Mississippi as he had attempted in Louisiana. There was no time for discussion. Talk about a Kool-aid drinker...
Ingratitude in a hallmark trait of the welfare state. The welfare state have fostered irresponsibility and ingratitude through "entitlements" to the poor without expectation for improvement in their education and the associated ability to provide for themselves. Entitlements make the giver/taxpayer invisible to the recipient so there is no one to thank.
These policies have lost whole generations of the poor in this country who think they are "entitled" to be cared for by the state. These generations would have been far better off working through their diversity instead of sucking on the government tit and thus never being forced to take any responsibility for their actions. There is great value in struggling to survive as many of our ancestors did. These poor people and their progeny were robbed of that neuron generating process. Those who are wealthy were robbed of their ability to provide for more of their own children through taxation to support these entitlements to the poor. Our nation will never recover. History has not been kind to democracies and the US is now basically a representative democracy.
Duhhh -- I wonder if PBS knew, that Mississippi had an emergency response plan, also, ceded authority to FEMA ahead of time and followed it. On the other hand, Louisiana had a plan, that got lost in an egotistical struggle. Under reported was Mississippi's lose of life and personal property. Mississippi didn't whine, they did the best to cope. Yes, the people of New Orleans needlessly suffered. Yes, left wingers like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and an endless amount of democrats played every card in the deck, accept, self blame.
According to law, the U.S. government is not the first responder. That responsibility lies with local and state government. If FEMA is first, then Louisiana or any other state does not need mayors or governors. The feds then owns that state, outright. The term "States Rights" comes into play. The state must request aid and then cede certain authority over to the federal government. Governor Blanco didn't do that. Like it or not, tell the slimy DemOrats that's how the way the law works.
I figure the feds are going to spend around $1000 of my money on that dump. Yes somebody should say thanks. And, sorry, it's not motivating me to give more. My mandatory "gift" is going to be substantial.
