Oh please..can you say drama queen??
http://www.lsj.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20050504/NEWS06/505040352 That was in April.
Another riot in East Lansing.

If you are trying to tell me that the majority of people rioting in NO were NOT dark skinned welfare recipients go ahead.
Never said that. It does not however make it a race riot. You might noticed that the majority of the victims were black as well.
You may imply that I am a bigot for refusing to grant criminals sensitivity in riots -
There you go again. Just where did I do that? Somehow not calling NO a race riot is equivalent to be being sensitive to criminals? Are you listening to yourself here?
The difference is I am not crying victim-
Really? It looks to me like you are doing nothing but crying victim. Jessie Jackson would be proud.
Since when does a police chief have the authority to shut down evacuation routes? Is this bridge a county road or something?
In any case, what a jagoff. As a Florida resident, evacuation routes are sacrosanct. This Lawson guy is a self centered moron.
BTW you prove my point.
Riots in Seattle.

Enjoy your whine. I am out of here.
*snicker*, oh-ok then.
Projecting again, Bets?
You had your say and I had mine and I didn't directly attack you. But I know from the past that's just the way you are.
Thank you for demonstrating the point.
Yes- those were riots and by a majority of "white folks". I suppose you have a point there- I may differ here on the reason or motivation of the riots in that they were rioting because they believed they are oppressed by people of the SAME race.
But I suppose you could make the case if your definition of a race riot is one race of people rioting- my definition is not that- I speak to the motivation for the riot.
Wow, I just now saw this story-- I'm like 2 days late and walking into a flame war!
'bye.
You have inspired me- Wanna sing kumbyah and make friends?:]
Then in this case NO is not a race riot by your definition. I also draw a line between rioting defined as, "A violent disturbance of the public peace by three or more persons assembled for a common purpose." and just general looting in a mostly abandon city.
This was not a race riot despite some yahoo yelling about "the man" later on it was about smash and grab.
Have you seen any reports of anyone being targeted because of their skin color?
But that does not a race riot make, admittedly. I refer to the looters, who feel that they are entitled to steal and kill because they have been oppressed by "the man" for so long. And they steal from hardworking people of all skin types so it doesn't make any sense. I still consider that a "race riot", you may not and I now see your point.
And it is true that more dark skinned people were victims. And historically more young dark skinned people have been murder by other dark skinned people than anyone else. I still say that those crimes are motivated by racial issues.
You see that is what I am talking about. As long as you think that such things are motivated by racial issues, which is one of those phrases that can be stretched to mean almost anything, then no head way can be made to fix the problem.
If you look clearly at what the actual problem is rather then the race of those involved you can make some headway. Because the solution that will work when applied to all people will be a actual solution. If you try to solve something based on race then you are simply going to be creating a new issue rather then a solution.
Remember what the Governor said? Katrina forecasts were alarmist. Just get yourself to the Superdome with your peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and pray.
I doubt it. You see I work on a daily basis with people who have found the solution. So I know that it is not "racial issues" but people issues.
We will run it up the flag pole and see who salutes!
Thank God this country's problems don't have anything to do with racism or imagine racism reverse racism, or people held down by a racist welfare culture.
Whew that was a close one.
I wasn't. But then I thought, why not?
You are so wrong that it isn't funny. I have not only met people from the ghetto I have lived there. That is how I know what the issue actually is while the social workers rarely will. You see they only see one segment of the problem. They only interact with one group. Those who are already in the system. They have no concept of what is going on outside the system. They never meet the people there.
I did. They were my neighbors and co-workers. That is why I know it is not a race thing because the same method that I and others used to get out worked the same no matter the color.
You are obviously an expert of expansive knowledge- please share with us. Enlighten us. I am all ears....
I would love to hear about your solution to ..(something) that you keep referring to.
Oh I can't wait- I am so grateful to have the opportunity to learn from you.
