'Fight' Of Flight (Flight 93 movie “filled me with hate, and it’s not a bad thing at all.”)

THIS film filled me with hate — hate for the terrorists who killed thousands of innocent people on 9/11 and hate for all the murderous Muslim fanatics still out there who even now continue to hold the world hostage.

It's a feeling akin to the one many of us had in the days and weeks following the attacks — unrequited anger coupled with a robust appetite for revenge.

Four years after the attacks, it's not a bad thing at all for a TV movie to rekindle those emotions since we're still fighting the war that started that day.

"The Flight That Fought Back" re-creates the story of United Flight 93, the one that took off from Newark Airport for San Francisco and later crashed in open fields in Somerset County, Pa., after passengers attacked the hijackers and foiled their plan to crash the jet somewhere in Washington.

This innovative, 90-minute, made-for-TV movie — narrated by Kiefer Sutherland and scheduled to air without commercials — adheres strictly to the known facts about the plot hatched after passengers and cabin crew members learned via cellphone calls from loved ones that three other hijacked planes had already been used as missiles at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

< snip >

The interviews are especially moving when the survivors recall their last phone calls and voice-mail messages — some of which you'll hear — from their loved ones on the doomed plane.

At 10:03 a.m., Flight 93 hit the ground upside-down at a speed of 580 mph. Very little remained of the aircraft, its 33 passengers and seven crew members, but after you watch this movie, you will never forget their voices or their deeds.

Despite my connection to the World Trade Center having spent most of my life in the metro NYC area and despite the fact that walking through that building as a child as it was being built is one of my earliest memories of New York City, I feel even a closer emotional connection to Flight 93, not simply because it left Newark Airport in my home state but because my wife and I used that very flight number to fly back to Tokyo through San Francisco while we were living there. When my wife and I heard that flight number, it was all too familiar. I'm fortunate that I wasn't in NYC that day and that none of my friends were lost on 9/11 (though one friend was engulfed in the cloud of debris when the first tower collapsed) so Flight 93 is more personal because I understand that it very well could have been my wife and I on that plane that day and it makes me wonder how I would have reacted.

I'm afraid to watch this movie. I don't really need anymore motivation to lust for revenge. 911 gave me enough motivation for a couple of lifetimes. I can only hope that Moussaoui is roasting in the 7th circle of hell right now...

And, yes, I think some anger is warranted and a good thing. I was glad I watched the comprehensive National Geographic show on 9/11 a few weeks ago because it made me angry all over again, and I needed that.

I also hate the people in our own country that supprt the terrorists, and they know who they are. They are in Hollywierd, the media, and the halls of Congress.

Don't be afraid. Face your fear and steel yourself. We are in a fight to the death, and we are far stronger than those cowards ever can be. There is an especially hot corner of hell reserved for them.

It took a long time for me to accept what happened to us on 911 (I've never become OK with it). All I was saying is that I am not eager to go back to the unending rage that characterized my state of mind back then. That being said, I have no lack of motivation for killing these ba$tards everywhere we can find them...

Yeah, their 72 virgins won't put out for them, because virgins have devoted themselves entirely to God.

It must be REALLY hot. That said, most Muslims are good people, and I mean that. But the evil ones must be exterminated like the vermin they are.

Best voice in Hollywood these days. I'm glad Agent Bauer is involved with this laudable project.

I would like to get rid of all evil. I guess that's what Heaven is all about.

I sure hope they didn't portray the bad guys as Islamic Terrorist males between the ages of 18-40..that would be stereotyping and CAIR wouldn't be pleased

Discovery Channel will be running a 'movie' about the heroes on Flight 93 [The Flight That Fought Back] on the evening of September 11.

It will show at 9 pm, 11 pm (9-11) and 1 am (9-12) EST.

Might want to catch this one

I saw the commercial for this and started crying. I don't know if I can handle the whole thing.

It will be difficult to get through, but I believe from what I've heard about this, that it will be important to watch and remember the terror, so that we don't get complacent in our quest to bring justice to those responsible for this horror.
