KIEV, Ukraine — Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko (search) fired his government Thursday, saying the abrupt action was motivated by an absence of team spirit among Cabinet members and other top aides.

Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko's (search) fragile coalition of former opposition leaders fell amid the greatest crisis to face Yushchenko in his seven months in power.

Yushchenko appointed lawmaker Yuriy Yekhanurov (search), a former economics minister who now heads a parliamentary committee on industrial issues, as acting prime minister.

Yushchenko also accepted the resignation of Petro Poroshenko, the head of the Security and Defense Council (search), and parliament quickly voted to strip him of his legislative seat. Poroshenko stepped down Thursday after two other high-level officials quit, accusing him of corruption.

Sometimes I wish we could do it this fast.

Badaboom, badabing..you're all fired! Clear out your desks and be out by tomorrow noon or there'll be a showdown.

Youschenko genuinely wants to clean up the corruption. Sadly, the decades under communism, followed by two terms under the corrupt rule of President Kuchma have taken their toll. Mr. Youchenko has a daunting task before him. Please be praying that God, in His mercy will give this man the wisdom he needs to lead.

The Ukraine has such potential, it could be an economic powerhouse and a positive moral/spiritual influence throughout the entire region IF they can put an end to the corruption and continue moving the country in the right pro-democracy direction.

Tymoshenko's group will win the elections and then the real economic communism begins. The whole revolution has been heading down hill and everyone should have seen it coming.

Seizing plundered assets from oligarchs is economic communism? Funny you don't think so when Putin does it.

"Seizing plundered assets from oligarchs is economic communism?"

Isn't Yulia Tymoshenko one of the oligarchs who was doing some major plundering?

Setting government mandated maximum prices on a market economy is, upping taxes by 20% and minimal wage by 90% is, forbidding companies to export is, but hay, she's your girl, you can be proud of her. Oh and for your info, her statement was that she wouldn't resell them as the government deserves to make profits off of running the industry and can run it better...her word. Yushchenko is the one who wanted to resell them.

But you go boy, the commi Tymoshenko needs your support.

An election or two and the chance to steal more. And to think, she was a public servant for the 5 years she "earned" her fortune. And they say government work doesn't pay.

She was a sidekick of a real oligarch, Lazarenko. She's nothing compared to Akhmetov, Pinchuk, and Medvedchuk, the heads of the Donetsk, Dnepropetrovsk, and Kiev clans and Yanukovych's supporters.

More lies. Of course you've been corrected about this before but telling the same lies over and over is your nature. Timoshenko made her fortune in the private sector, not as a public servant. Her wealth was subsequently confiscated by Kuchma and the oligarchs who pull his strings.

Not to mention the fact that Putin did not resell Yukos but nationalized it outright. That doesn't make him a commie though in the mind of a hypocrite like you.

Not quite. It was sold, true to a government company, but it did have to take out a $40 billion loan from several international banks, so no, your point isn't valid, but thanks for playing.

That doesn't make him a commie though in the mind of a hypocrite like you

Ahh, now there's the tailgunner joe we all know. Knew a suspension couldn't keep you down for long.

Lets see, I've already stated all the things your sweetheart did but Putin, oh yes, Putin: killing the sales tax, 13% flat income tax, 24% corporate tax (14% for IT), 1/3rd off Payroll, 1/2 off Vat, Christian educations, control on abortion, military chaplens, land ownership reform, banking reform, trial by jury, yup all soooo commie.

But hay, busting those bubbles is my pleasure.

Timoshenko made her fortune in the private sector, not as a public servant

Yeah right. She was appointed by the economic minister to run the gas sector, thus her nickname: the gas princess. Her former boss, who got a share, is now sitting in a US prison. But why should that stop you. But regardless of her fortune, as prime minister, her actions were totally socialist even communist but that didn't seem to stop your support. As a fact, you don't oppose communism and socialism, you just hate the Russians and if the like minded are communists, dictators or socialists, that's a ok with you, as long as they hate the Russians all other things are excusable.

She's part of the Dnepipetrovsk clan, as that is her home city, but keep trying.
