I asked this question on another thread today.

What does a President do when confronted by corrupt/incompetent local Government during an emergency and american lives are at stake?

He realizes people get the government they voted for & does as much to lessen the consequences as he is legally allowed.

It is one hell of a tough call. I think and pray that LA is the one state that this could happen in. LA is not like any other state in the union. It is a state government of mafia dons with NO accountability at all. It has been that way for 200 years.

I agree that the President should not invoke the Insurrection Act in a case like this but perhaps we need an Incompetence Act, to allow the federal government to come into a state to provide aid to suffering people whose state government has proven to be incompetent. Louisiana, with its long history of corruption is a prime example of incompetence.

The people of Louisiana VOTED for this INCOMPETENT woman and the people of NO elected NAgin. Maybe they will think twice the next time. And Maybe, just maybe some of the corruption in this state will be swept away with all the other crud.

The first thing he should do is consult the Constitution and Laws of the country and see if he has any power to affect the outcome. Only then should he act.

Anything else would result in a federal martial law takeover of the poor parts of all our major cities--after all, gang warfare is an emergency and american lives are at stake.
