Today was day 1 at the reliant Arena. I thought there was going to be a bad element there. Where I could trust no one. The people there were nicer than some people that live here. I was surprised when I saw kids with smiles on there faces just because of the free little teddy bear. When they have nothing else to play with. Most of my job is listening to peoples story's. Which was in some cases was difficult to do. I hope them having someone listening to there story makes there day a little better. The smallest thing could change these people's life's.
Day 2
I arrived at Reliant Center today at about 9 am. After I signed in with the company I am working with they sent us to the Astrodome for family reunification. On the way to the entrance I was expecting the usual pat down. When we got to the entrance the security told there were not letting anyone in without a volunteer armband. We then had to turn around and walk back to where we originally signed in and stand in line for said armband. It took us the better part of an hour to get the band and get into the dome. After finally getting to our designated work area it was my neighbor who had to train me because we were so short handed on account of the lock down. While we were working there was a rumor the President Bush was going to visit. While getting up to get some fresh air I noticed a lot of military personal around. I asked on of the soldiers why the Dome was one lockdown but he would not give me a straight answer.
LOL, it's a 'sign of my times' as I get my house cleaning done so I CAN get on the computer. My husband watches TV and I watch the computer!!
As I told a friend today, our contribution was about 25% - we taught him right from wrong and manners. The other 75% is the personality, heart and soul he came into the world with.
I know....whenever I look at my son and daughter, knowing how many mistakes I made...
I just thank God that he gave them plenty of common sense and a gentle decency that one just doesn't "learn"...
You have been blessed...and I am SO looking forward to the "diary" of a compassionate young man.
Thanks for the ping, Brad's Gramma!
Welcome to FR. Give your mom & dad a salute and a big hug for all they have taught you, the love they give you, and the respect you deserve. (Introducing you to FR is proof of all that, isn't it? LOL)
Great job helping out. I'm looking forward to more good reports and posts from you.
FReegards,

I was trying to decide what a spawn of Mind-numbed Robot would be called. Stupid Laptop maybe.
"Sigh, better than a zot!"
Is that braggin', complainin', or just wishful thinkin'? LOL
;^D
Welcome and...thank you for your contributions to the relief effort!!
Thanks for the ping and your good work. Yes, please add me :) God bless you!
MON
I am Eaker and TheMom's son and am working with the relief effort here in Houston.
God bless you, Eaker and son, with helping out!
I'd love to be on your ping list!! THANKS!!
Ya gotta tell yer Dad to give me credit when he posts my photos, though.
DOH!
I am already on your ping list. Nevermind.
But the photo credit thing still stands.
Your comment about not getting a straight answer to your question about who was the visiting honcho shows insight beyond your years. Keep watching 'em. Even in exalted GOP panjandrum circles, straight talk, good information, and simple candor seem to be circling the bowl these days.
And don't get me started on the "Republicans don't care about black people!" DemonRats.
Interesting that they feel compelled to use dead bodies and a hurricane to tell black voters that old line all over again, though. Sounds like Clarence and Condi are getting to them.

Good Job-you're doing something many can't or won't do
I imagine this is refreshing to see after all the media reports. It is certainly refreshing to read
Yer name is on the pic.
Want me to add yer phone number and belt size?
What about tag line credit?
Ya monkey butt!
