ARE BLACKS TO BLAME FOR NEW ORLEANS DISASTER? Rev. Peterson Says President Bush And Racism Not To Blame
Los Angeles- Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson, founder and president of BOND, the Brotherhood Organization of a New Destiny today harshly criticized Black elected officials and celebrities who claimed that President George W. Bush is responsible for the tragic death of thousands of mostly Black residents in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
This is a terrible situation and we need to have compassion. The truth is Black people died not because of President Bush or racism, they died because of their unhealthy dependence on the government and the incompetence of Mayor Ray Nagin and Governor Kathleen Blanco, said Rev. Peterson.
Rev. Jesse Jackson, members of The Congressional Black Caucus, and rapper Kanye West all blamed the President for not doing enough to help Blacks. Jackson called the Presidents response incompetent and charged that racism is partly to blame for the slow evacuation of survivors after Hurricane Katrina. During a nationally televised live fundraising event on NBC West ranted, George Bush doesnt care about Black people.
Rev. Peterson said, If Black folks want to blame someone for this tragedy they only need to look in the mirror. Mayor Nagin has blamed everyone else except himself. The Mayor failed in his duty to evacuate and protect the people of New Orleans. Our prayers go out to the families of the deceased. Hopefully this will help Black people realize the folly of depending on the government or leaders and serve as a notice to avert future tragedies in other cities.
Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson is the author of the book SCAM: How The Black Leadership Exploits Black America, which is soon to be issued in paperback. For media inquiries, please contact Ermias Alemayehu at 323-782-1980, Cell 213-804-1872. For more information visit www.bondinfo.org

Excellent post. I wish him well, he is a brave man speaking the truth.
Im buying a dozen of his books and sending them to usual suspects. you know them, I dont need to tell you.
They will be calling him Uncle Tom from here on out.
Here's an encouraging report, which I posted to another thread earlier today:
I just heard a great soundbite on Tulsa news TV tonight, from an older black man, who had fled the storm early and came to his brother's house in Tulsa. Through some clever networking, the man found a job within two days, and began working. Here's the money-line: "It's good to be working, to be somewhat independent, you know. Not to be, you know, (he pauses briefly to find the right word) a liability."
NOT TO BE A LIABILITY. What a man. What an American. I wish he were contagious.
Is he the guy who is sometimes on Foxnews?

Well that's it, he's officially excommunicated from the mainstream black community, now isn't he?
Okay, I have searched and cannot find this article on that link. Can someone please help me?
I think he's been excommunicated for awhile. I love the guy.
Very well said.
Yes he is. A voice of reason in the wilderness. Jesse Jackson's thugs try to intimidate Jesse Lee Peterson constantly. A good man working hard to teach young people personal responsibility.
Wow, someone with some backbone who tells the truth. You think he'd be a good president?
I could not find it on his site either but google turned up this link to newswire

Finally! Someone who tells it like it is! If you depend on the government for *anything* you're going to be disappointed.

Thanks, I couldn't rememeber his name, but that sounded like what he would say. God Bless him. It's tough swimming against the tide.

I like Peterson and send him $$$ sometimes. He pretty much said it all in one sentence.
Wow! Just Wow!
Rev. Peterson spoke at the university where I attend school earlier this week. I was very upset that I couldn't attend the event.
Thanks! I know exactly where to post it, too. 8^)
