I'm still trying to figure out how Bush screwed up? Maybe I'm slow, but I just don't see it. I'm sick of the Repubs all saying "We all agree that the Feds/Fema was slow.......". Why are they repeating this when, given the timeline, the time it takes to organize troops, etc. etc., it's proving NOT to be true?

The answer is that President Bush DIDN'T screw up.

The Republicans are reacting to the MSM, because they are COWARDS.

I have defended the President at family gatherings, against the boyfriend of my best friend, on talk radio.

How come a Midwestern grandmother has the courage to do this, and the elected Republicans don't?

I am keeping a list of the wesels and cowards. They will never get a dime from me, andnone will ever get my vote.

Newt Gingrich andBobby Jindal, you are at the top of the list!!

Unfortunately, this is always the case. Conservatives and anyone with an ounce of compassion gives in to try to alleviate the situation. We always "hope" that the others will reciprocate, but they never do. I agree that the Republicans need to SHUT UP and not say another word until they can show the facts while stating who the real culprits/clowns are. Now that they have been saying it, it will be used against them.

My column this week premised that the response was about as good as you could expect. Certainly it wasn't perfect, but for a government response to a dual disaster of the highest magnitude, Getting were we did in less than a week was pretty good.

Note that politicians who WEREN'T involved but are from affected areas almost have to criticize all response as being too slow. They have no choice. When people are suffering, they don't want their representatives telling them it's as good as it can be, they want them out their doing everything they can to goad the government into giving more.

Its when politicians directly responsible for response fail and then point fingers at others that I get upset. Oh, and politicians who have nothing to do with the disaster who still feel like they should try to score political points.

And my utmost disrespect goes to people who are so stupid that they ask for the head of FEMA to be fired in the MIDDLE of the recovery for the worst disaster in our history, even though by every account things are going well NOW.
