Okay...now this is beginning to seem sinister. Did they actually keep the help of the Red Cross and Salvation Army out of NO to cause a crisis to get the President? Who cooked this up? I honestly put nothing past the lowest scum politicians in our history.

Local and state officials in Louisiana did not want to deal with stranded people in the city. As you can see by their evacuation plan, they wanted people to flee the city, period. They probably needed this desperately in order to cover the fact that graft and corruption had depleted their resourses.

So, as Gov Blanco has herself admitted, they did not allow any more food, water or supplies in after people were flowing into the Super Dome. Remember her cutesy statement during the evacuation that those coming to the dome must pretend they are camping out and bring their own supplies.

I hope she hangs for this as blood is on her hands.

.....Who cooked this up?....

If you check my posts you will see that I said this was happening from the beginning. In my view, the policy was good but the execution was a tragedy of errors.

It was obvious that once the levee broke the city was doomed. Those remaining had to leave. Most didn't want to go but as the situation became better known it was obvous to most of those left they had erred in staying and needed to leave. It was equally obvious that it was impossible to take care of those who remained. The only way to get them to leave was to withhold service, gather them up at the Dome and then ship them out of harms way. Think tough love.

It all worked pretty well except for the transport part. As of now we know the gathering up process worked but the shipping out part did not. Eventually we will learn what happened between the Mayor and the Governor that snarled the transport. This is the post levee break transport when the local busses were out of the picture. It would have been a great success had the transport been provided.

The point was that it was completely impossible for the prople to stay or to deliver services. Any effort to deliver services in the flooded city would have been disaster in itself.

Wow! It is beginning to look that way .. isn't it. I'm serious when I say that I would be shocked if this were true .. I can't believe people would play with the lives of thousands of people to avenge lost elections .. MY GOD .. that's so evil .. I'm sick at the thought.

Probably nothing more than incompetence on the part of the city and state officials. But they may have simply been waiting for orders from above that never came.

Don't forget that the Government of Louisiana had been ordered by FEMA to repay thirty million dollars that was misappropriated from the last disaster.

Also that Blanco was doing some political payback on Nagin for supporting a Republican candidate in the last election.

Gross stupidity and irresponsibility. The mayor and governor failed to evacuate the needy when transportation was available, piled them into the sports arena and the civic center with promises of food and water, which they then failed to provide on the pretext that they didn't want to make those centers a 'magnet.' When their failures are exposed, they blame Bush. Haven't we heard this song before?

No, though I'm sure they liked the results. Their idiotic, beyond belief, criminal reasoning was - if you don't feed and water the evacuees, they will leave the Superdome and no more will be inclined to come there.
