Major Garrett new blockbuster----Salvation Army efforts at supplying the evacuees BLOCKED.
Hugh Hewitt ^ | Sept 8 2005 | Hugh Hewitt

Posted on 09/08/2005 4:42:37 PM PDT by Dog

The Fox News Channel's Major Garrett made another appearance on the program this evening, following up on his blockbuster story yesterday. Among other things, Garrett got confirmation --on camera-- of the Louisian State department of Homeland Security's blocking of the delivery of relief supplies to the Superdome and the Convention Center. In addition, Garrett received confirmation from senior Salvation Army officials in Washington, D.C. that the Salvation Army's efforts at supplying the evacuees were also repeatedly blocked. Radioblogger will have the transcript up later, but the key takeaway was when I asked Garrett if characterizing Louisian's preparation for the storm as "abysmal" was accurate and he confirmed that indeed it was. Read the whole thing.

I also asked Garrett why no other network is on this story. He can't offer an answer for that, event hough he points out that this isn't a hard story to get, and Fox News needn't be credited. All CNN has to do (or MSNBC or CBS) is call the Red Cross and get a camera over there.

"See, Landrieu expects to get BILLIONS for LA..."

Verily, yet whatever she shall gain in silver, the Senator cannot abide the loss of 100,000 votes.

Landrieu [D] 642,974 / 52%
Terrell [R] 603,160 / 48%

Has the word "impeachment" been lobbed around as far as the governor of Louisiana is concerned?

I just hope that when they investigate the LA part of this, that they go WAY back to when the taxpayer's money was allocated the levees...and the money was NOT spent on that...

The 9/11 Commission didn't go back any further than 1999, at least that is what I heard one of them admitted...which means that they didn't even get into most of Bin Ladin's attacks on the US. and Able Danger...

We wouldn't want that to happen again, would we...

I believe I read somewhere here on FR today, that a poster said that it was being considered by the dems, that they actually use the SAME people that were on the 9/11 Commission.

Now, I do not understand WHY the dems are so enamored with the 9/11 Commission, I seem to remember that they pretty much backed up most of what Bush has said...

Help me out here, the other night Bush and the Feds were doing a horrible job. Now Savage says that we have a very compassionate government and that in the end it will be shown that they did a very good, efficient job. What government was he talking about? Sounds almost bipolar to me. But you shouldn't expect any less from him.

I agree wholeheartedly with your assessment.

The great irony is that if the rest of the GOP would more effectively defend the President, they would find their own poll numbers rise.

Most of them must be really insulated from the grassroots.

Laura also didn't like that Bush commented that he wanted to see Sen. Lott's house rebuilt...

I still haven't figured out that one...sure Lott is rich compared to most of the people that had homes lost..especially in NO...

but, that doesn't make it any less painful for him to lose his home...

He said, immediately, "I know exactly what Blanco is doing. She is making sure that no one, absolutely no one, sees the books that record what as really been happening in LA the past few generations".

Bingo!

"Just saw Joe Scarborough and a Lt.Co. savage Bush. I simply don't understand this."

I do. Rick Kaplan passed out the Kool-aid. It's that simple.

Don't worry about PMSNBC, hoss -- you doubled their viewership just by watching Ugly Joe.

Tony Snow had a gut on his show yesterday with the LA State Senate. He said that the legislature was investigating the process for impeaching Blanco.

Probably why the Dems are throwing a hissy fit about the Republican Congressional Leadership's plans to hold hearings. They cannot control what is and is NOT investigated. The scary part about all this is Dems are showing us that they are Dems 1st and Americans some where WAY down the line. Thousands of THEIR voters died and they are more worried about BLAME then FIXING what went wrong! Imagine what a disaster it will be if we ever get someone who will be appointing Blanco caliber officals into positions of Federal authority! The Dems are so incompetent they should not of even got 1/3 of the vote last Nov. That they came so close pisses me off.

JUST for the record.

Zogby admitted to overpolling African-Americans in their poll (in addition to their usual overpolling of Dems).

Still think I'm spinning because I like the President, Tom............or will you admit the truth that Zogby polls aren't reliable, and shouldn't be quoted as facts on conservative websites like FR (where people actually know better)?

I was just throwing that out...as a consequence if not a planned reason...

But, I know one thing, just like giving the millions that we did to the families of 9/11...you get in trouble when you just throw out money...

They are now handing out these debit cards, that I heard that if they get both, the FEMA card and the Red CRoss card, it is possible to be like $3500 total...

Now, next time there is a hurricane heading to a large city with a poor population...don't you think they might just stick around and not evacuate...and then ask for THEIR hurricane money?

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette ran a story on September 3rd which said the Red Cross was stopped by FEMA. I wrote the the author and pointed out that it was the STATE homeland security department that stopped them, and that they said so on their web site. This is the response I got:

While the Louisianna Homeland Security may also have a role in this, the Red Cross officials that I spoke to clearly said that FEMA was not allowing them to go in. The F in FEMA stands for Federal, and FEMA is a branch of the national Department of HOmeland Security.
Sincerely,

Try both. This MSM cover up is beginning to stink worse than the New Orleans toxic soup they love keep repeating without end as they showcase their brave and heroic chattering idiots wading around in water.

I heard some MSM idjit say today, that at least the abandoned pets have plenty of water to drink. The flooding is from Lake Pontchartrain, which is a salt water estuary from the Gulf of Mexico. Although fresh water does flow into it from rivers, the salinity level is about half that of the gulf, it is also subjected to reduced tidal flows & ebbs.

I don't think the MSM even realizes that it was the salt water storm surge from the gulf that created such a high level in the lake from the storm.. After the flooding, some were blabbering on about the the flood waters were receding back into the lake. This was from the lake level dropping from the excess surge water draining back into the gulf. Once it did, the flooding stabilized to an equilibrium level of the lake.

As a general rule, MSM types are dumber than the sludge they are threading their way through in NO.

I wrote her and she still insists that the red cross told her it was FEMA:

The media doesn't lurk on FR. They get their information from the New York Times editorial page, press releases, and talking to each other.
